Another former Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel, led Bayern to the Bundesliga title last season, replacing Julian Nagelsmann midway through the campaign. However, the "Gray Tigers" are now five points behind leaders Leverkusen. If they do not improve their form soon, Tuchel's future will be uncertain.

This is not the first time Mourinho has targeted the Bayern coaching position. In 2021, CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told RAI Sports that the Portuguese coach had offered to coach Bayern a few years earlier. "However, at that time we did not think Mourinho was suitable for Bayern. Personally, I have a good impression of Mourinho and hope he will be successful at Roma," Rummenigge said.

Bayern's late honorary president Franz Beckenbauer called Mourinho "uneducated" in 2011, shortly after he led Inter to a 2-0 win over Bayern in the Champions League final. Beckenbauer died in early 2024, while Rummenigge has now been promoted to the board of directors of Germany's most storied club.

Mourinho brought Roma the Conference League title in his first season, then helped the team reach the Europa League final. However, Roma's poor performance in Serie A this season led to the "Special One" being fired, giving way to team legend Daniele de Rossi.

The Arab media once reported that Mourinho would lead Al Shabab in the Saudi Pro League, but he denied this information. However, the Portuguese coach still wants to return to coaching as soon as possible.

The record for the most coaches to win Europe's top five leagues is held by Carlo Ancelotti, who won with Chelsea, Real Madrid, Milan, Bayern and PSG.
