On the afternoon of December 27, the Department of Culture and Sports held a conference to review the work in 2024 and deploy directions and tasks for 2025, with the theme "Developing culture and people rich in Quang Ninh identity".
In 2024, many cultural and sports events in the series of events under the Quang Ninh Provincial Economic Growth Plan were successfully organized. Notably, the Asia-Pacific Robocon Competition, the 2024 Asian Police Taekwondo Open in Quang Ninh, the 2024 Ha Long Heritage International Marathon... Provincial cultural institutions also made important contributions to promoting tourism development, completing the target of welcoming 19 million visitors in 2024. Notably, the Quang Ninh Museum welcomed 751,200 visitors, with total entrance fee revenue in the province reaching over 22 billion VND.
Along with that, the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life" was deployed, spread widely, enthusiastically and effectively. Cultural and sports institutions at all levels were invested in and synchronized; cultural, artistic and sports activities took place enthusiastically from the province to the grassroots; the spiritual and cultural life of the people was improved, associated with the construction of new rural areas and civilized urban areas, creating a solid foundation for the province to develop sustainably.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has also implemented many action programs to preserve and promote the value of heritage relics, contributing to diversifying tourism products in the province. Regarding the scientific dossier of Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac submitted to UNESCO for recognition as a World Heritage Site, the Department has advised the province to establish a working group to dialogue with the International Council of Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) in France. Currently, the Department is working with the two provinces of Bac Giang and Hai Duong to complete the criteria according to UNESCO's requirements. The Department is also advising the province to build an identity system, a cultural industry project and carry out a number of events contributing to the development of the cultural industry.
Last year, high-performance sports continued to reap many successes, worthy of the province's position. Quang Ninh athletes participated in 90 national sports competitions, winning 506 medals, including 127 gold medals. At 9 international sports competitions, Quang Ninh athletes won 27 medals, including 11 gold medals. The sports movement for everyone associated with drowning prevention and safety developed strongly, evenly in both quantity and quality throughout the province; thereby improving physical condition, stature, health, disease prevention, contributing to the implementation of one of the three important criteria in the Happiness criteria set (health, education, income).
In the coming time, the whole industry will focus on the task of streamlining the apparatus, including merging with the Department of Tourism; continuing to mobilize resources to effectively implement the goals, tasks and solutions of Resolution 17 of the Provincial Party Committee "Building and promoting cultural values, human strength of Quang Ninh to become endogenous resources, driving force for rapid and sustainable development". Determined to let culture and sports continue to become the driving force for socio-economic development; become the foundation to firmly ensure national defense, security, politics, foreign affairs, firmly consolidate the northern border of the Fatherland.
