Stop training students because parents have questions?
Speaking to the press, the parent of the student whose training was unilaterally decided by the school to "stop training" said that in early July, the Parents' Association of his child's class was invited by the school board to discuss the orientation for organizing a high-quality 12A5 class in the 2024-2025 school year.
"After general information about the orientation of the high-quality class, the board of directors asked parents to register their children for the class. However, due to some remaining questions, the class's parents' association asked me to represent them in scheduling an appointment with the school to discuss the details," said the parent.
Decision to "stop training" students of Ngo Quyen High School - Dong Anh
After 2 weeks, the school board invited this parent to work with Mr. Nguyen Nhu Tuan, the school's Vice Principal. In response to the questions raised by the class's parents, Mr. Tuan answered unclearly and continuously emphasized that if any parent found this environment unsuitable, they should transfer their child to another environment...
On August 10, the parent received an invitation to the school to "meet the school board to discuss the high-quality class curriculum."
"Here, Mr. Dong Xuan Hung, introduced as Chairman of the Board of Ngo Quyen High School - Dong Anh, said that the questions raised by the parents were a sign of distrust of the school and disrespect for the teachers. Therefore, the School Board will decide to stop educating my child on August 10," the parent reflected.
That same afternoon, the parents received a notice from their child's homeroom teacher about the school's decision to "stop training".
The angry parent said that the school's decision to stop training the student was "not in accordance with the law and not in accordance with the criteria of the education sector". It is reasonable for the parents to have questions, but why did the school make such an anti-educational decision?!
What does the Department of Education and Training direct?
This afternoon, August 15, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training said it had received the information and issued written instructions on this matter.
Accordingly, the document sent to the Principal of Ngo Quyen High School - Dong Anh signed by Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training Pham Quoc Toan, requested the school to seriously implement a number of related contents.
Specifically, the school is responsible for arranging and assigning students to classes in accordance with regulations. The arrangement and re-arrangement of students into classes is only carried out with the consensus of all students, parents of students in the class and with the consensus of all teachers in the school's pedagogical council.
The Department of Education and Training also requested Ngo Quyen High School - Dong Anh to strictly implement the disclosure of information about the school in accordance with the provisions of Circular 09/2024/TT-BGDDT dated June 3, 2024 of the Ministry of Education and Training regulating the disclosure in the activities of educational institutions in the national education system.
Public information as prescribed includes: general information about educational institutions; financial revenues and expenditures; conditions for ensuring the quality of general education activities; plans and results of general education activities.
The Department of Education and Training also requested the school to strictly implement regulations of the education sector, ensure the rights and legitimate aspirations of the school's students; and report the implementation results to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training before August 16.
