Catfish, mountain goat, and multi-spurred chicken are famous specialties that tourists should enjoy in Viet Tri City this weekend.
Below are some famous specialties and restaurants suggested by the Provincial Tourism Promotion Center and Le Hai, Vice President of the Phu Tho Provincial Tour Guide Association. The restaurants on the suggested list are all located at the Hung Temple Historical Site or Viet Tri City, 7 km away for guests' convenience.
Catfish
Viet Tri catfish is one of the culinary prides of the local people. The fish meat is firm, sweet, and has few bones, so it was often used as a tribute to the king in the past. Catfish dishes include mixed with shallots, grilled with galangal and rice vinegar, grilled with betel leaves, sour bamboo shoot hotpot, and steamed with soy sauce.
In addition, visitors can enjoy braised fish with hot rice. Braised fish with plums is a dish selected as one of the Top Vietnamese specialties (2021 - 2022), according to the announcement from the Vietnam Record Organization (VietKings).

Rocky Mountain Goat
When mentioning mountain goat, many diners will think of Ninh Binh - one of the localities famous for delicious goat dishes. But Thanh Thuy mountain goat in Phu Tho is also a famous specialty thanks to its fragrant, sweet meat. Goat dishes include stir-fried with lemongrass and chili, hot pot, stew, grilled with pieces, and raw with lemon.

Chicken with many spurs
The multi-spurred chicken or nine-spurred chicken like the legend of Son Tinh - Thuy Tinh is completely real. This breed of chicken is raised and developed by the Tien Dao people in the core area of Xuan Son National Park. They are also known by another name, the Lord chicken.
When fully grown, the multi-spur chicken weighs about 1.5-1.8 kg, has a bright red comb, and grows in a natural environment, with firm meat. The dishes that Phu Tho people love from the multi-spur chicken are steamed with chang leaves, marinated with wild honey and other spices, and grilled over charcoal.

Chung cake, Giay cake
The main ingredient for making Banh Giay is yellow sticky rice, pounded evenly and then shaped into round cakes. The filling is made from green beans that have been peeled, steamed, and pounded. When the cake is done, it will be white, soft, fragrant and placed in green banana leaves, and will taste sweet.
Cat Tru Chung Cake is made from sticky rice, green beans, pork, and dong leaves. But what makes the difference is the preparation of the ingredients and the way of wrapping. Cat Tru people have a talent for wrapping cakes without a mold, but each cake is square and even.

Visitors to Hung Temple on the occasion of the Hung Kings' death anniversary can also have a snack. Dishes such as cassava cakes (salty or sweet filling), banh nang with molasses, banh tai (rice crust with meat filling), palm leaf rice balls, bamboo rice, sour meat, banh te, five-color sticky rice. Stalls at the Hung Temple relic site are holding a festival of local culinary culture, with more than 70 stalls selling local specialties.
