Expanding cooperation opportunities for innovative startups

Hai Phong aims to develop into a creative startup center of the Northern region and the whole country. The National Innovation and Startup Festival (Techfest) 2024, taking place in November in Hai Phong, will be an opportunity to attract international resources and promote the technology startup environment in Hai Phong, contributing to the above goal of the port city.

Science, technology and innovation are identified by Hai Phong as important driving forces to help the city improve its competitiveness and promote economic growth. Sharing about the outstanding results of science, technology and innovation activities of Hai Phong in recent times, Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Hai Phong Tran Quang Tuan said that the city's economy has developed strongly with a double-digit growth rate continuously over the past 10 years, making Hai Phong the leading locality in the country in terms of budget revenue.

The city has consistently maintained its position as the highest in the country in the PCI (Provincial Competitiveness Index) rankings. Its administrative reform indicators have also consistently led, contributing to attracting both foreign and domestic investment. These results have important contributions from science, technology and innovation.

With the support of the Ministry of Science and Technology, a team of experts and scientists, the city has constantly innovated and applied advanced technologies to production and life, ensuring the reception of modern technologies to serve development goals. Currently, Hai Phong has attracted many large corporations such as LG, SKP... to invest in high-tech fields, and cooperated with many large provinces and cities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hanoi... and countries such as the US, Singapore, Korea, Japan to build a strong innovation ecosystem.

The above remarkable growth is thanks to the city's serious implementation of the Party's resolutions, especially Resolution No. 45-NQ/TW of the Politburo on building and developing Hai Phong city to 2030, with a vision to 2045 and Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, with the goal of building Hai Phong city into one of the leading economic centers of the country.

Along with that, Hai Phong city issued many specific policies to promote science and technology and innovation, attract and develop high-tech industries such as: Resolution No. 08/2013/NQ-HDND on tasks and solutions for developing science and technology to serve the cause of industrialization, modernization and international integration; issued action programs such as Plan No. 86 on improving and enhancing the digital transformation index of Hai Phong city; Program 86 on digital transformation; Action Program No. 50-CTr/TU to implement Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW of the Politburo on developing biotechnology...

With the orientation of being the innovation center of the Northern key economic region, at the end of November, Hai Phong was selected by the Ministry of Science and Technology as the locality to organize the National Innovation and Startup Festival (Techfest) in 2024.

The theme of this year's National Innovation Startup Day emphasizes integrating Vietnam's innovative startup ecosystem with the region and the world, especially in the topics of creating social impact, green growth and sustainable development; as well as creating a foundation for establishing a coalition of innovative startup nations.

Notably, the Festival will organize a number of international conferences such as the Asian High-Tech Startup and Unicorn Summit, expected to attract the participation of high-tech innovative startups, innovative startups with the potential to become unicorns in Asia; International Conference on building an innovative startup ecosystem with the participation of international organizations: UNDP, ADB, USAID...

Mr. Tran Quang Tuan shared: "The event will attract international resources and promote the technology startup environment in Hai Phong, bringing breakthrough values ​​and expanding cooperation opportunities for the creative startup community, contributing to the implementation of the national strategy on innovation.

To realize this, the city will continue to promote digital transformation programs, attract investment in advanced industries, and cooperate in many aspects such as human resource training, investment attraction, technology transfer, etc. with major startup centers at home and abroad.
