According to GizChina , Micron has sent samples to phone and chipset manufacturers for testing. Currently, the UFS 4.0 storage drives will be available in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB capacities. The company will start producing these storage drives in the second half of 2023, so it will be a while before we see phones using UFS 4.0 storage from Micron on shelves.

The new UFS 4.0 storage standard is going to make mobile devices like smartphones better. It offers some exciting improvements that make things faster and more efficient. For starters, when you open an app on a device with Micron’s UFS 4.0 storage, it will open 15% faster than before. So you won’t have to wait long to play your favorite game or use apps. Furthermore, devices with this storage will boot up 20% faster than older standards. The new storage is also more energy efficient, which is really important for making your battery last longer. With UFS 4.0, devices can use 25% less power.
Another interesting thing about UFS 4.0 is that it can write information to storage faster than before. The write bandwidth is 100% higher than the previous generation, while the information retrieval bandwidth is 75% higher. This means everything will load faster and users will not have to wait long for their pictures, videos or games to load. Basically, UFS 4.0 is a huge improvement in storage technology, making devices faster, more efficient and more powerful.
Micron's UFS 4.0 storage offers sequential read speeds of up to 4,300 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 4,000 MB/s. For comparison, that's faster than Samsung's UFS 4.0 standard, which has sequential read speeds of 4,200 MB/s and sequential write speeds of 2,800 MB/s. Overall, Micron's standard write speeds are significantly faster than Samsung's.
