Meta is ready to have a 'response' for Twitter
The Existence of Project 92 was first officially confirmed in March when the company told reporters that “ We are exploring a standalone decentralized social network for sharing text updates. We believe there is an opportunity for a dedicated space where creators and public figures can share timely updates about their interests."
Now, a set of internally shared Project 92 design images have also leaked online. The new platform, which Cox calls “ our answer to Twitter,” will be a standalone program based on Instagram and integrate ActivityPub — the same network protocol that powers Mastodon .
The leaked images include screenshots of a secure login screen, a main feed that looks like Twitter's existing mobile app, and a reply screen.
“We’ve heard from creators and public figures who are concerned about having a healthy platform they trust to distribute their content ,” Cox said in a statement. Several celebrities are reportedly already involved in Meta’s project, according to sources.
