Tran Thuong Huyen (born 2000, Nghe An) was a student at the International Training Institute ISB, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics. Currently, she is pursuing a career as a bilingual MC for many domestic and international events.
Not only possessing a beautiful appearance and good foreign language skills, Thuong Huyen also attracts attention with a series of impressive achievements such as "Outstanding Female Student of 2017", Odon Vallet scholarship for excellent academic achievements, and third place in the MCA Sincere Star 2020 contest...
My family never supported my "mic" career.
At the age of 16, because of her passion for English, Thuong Huyen decided to join an academic community, from here gradually nurturing her dream of becoming a presenter.
When she first started pursuing her dream of "holding the mic", the female MC from Nghe An did not receive support from her family. She confessed that she felt very sad and had to struggle mentally to stay on the path she had chosen.
Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, Thuong Huyen said: "Because my hometown is Nghe An - people put a lot of emphasis on studying, other activities are not a priority.
But maybe because I was born in the year of the Dragon, I also like to fly high and think big. The more people think I'm dreamy and unrealistic, the harder I try to work to prove it."
After studying in Ho Chi Minh City and trying out many different jobs, Thuong Huyen began to think more seriously about her dream and goal of becoming a professional MC.
For Thuong Huyen, every event in her career journey is memorable and special in its own way. But the one that left the biggest impression on the mind of the beauty born in 2000 was probably the first time she went to the province to host a bilingual event.
"At that time, I was just learning the profession, so when I received an invitation from a big program, I was quite stressed. After the rehearsal, I stayed up until morning to grasp the information and script.
I remember clearly that I was so stressed that I had to run to the nearby beach to cry. Partly because I felt lucky that it was not easy for a client to trust me and accept such a big, heavy program," Thuong Huyen confided.
Being good at English does not necessarily mean you can be a bilingual MC.
The girl from Nghe An province believes that to become a professional bilingual MC requires many different factors and she herself is on the way to perfecting herself every day.
"First is voice, second is appearance" is what people often say about MCs. For Thuong Huyen, this is a necessary factor, to be "sufficient" there are many other skills such as: Voice, flexibility, audience interaction skills, communication skills...
Being good at English is certainly a big advantage, but it is only one of many skills needed to become a bilingual MC. The MC is the one who conveys information, connects the audience, and the emotional flow of the program… When you are confident, charming, have personal color, and fluent in foreign languages, you will be highly appreciated.
Sharing the secret to improving her foreign language skills, Thuong Huyen revealed that practicing and practising are two habits she maintains every day. The purpose of language is to communicate, so the female MC always makes the most of her time to think and reason in the language she is aiming for.
With her bilingual interpretation skills, Thuong Huyen had the opportunity to meet with the Consulate General and representatives of countries such as Germany, Italy, Portugal...
The MC job is a good opportunity for the beauty from Nghe An to improve herself every day, meet, exchange and learn more from characters and people who have great influence in society...
"I am fortunate to have the opportunity to connect with international friends and partners, to understand more about the culture and people from different countries. Besides, you will also be able to satisfy your passion for traveling, maybe even "go abroad" for business trips.
In fact, to achieve the above, the requirements for bilingual MCs are quite high. Personally, I think that with that special nature, the payment for MCs in bilingual programs will be somewhat higher, but it also depends on the ability and experience of each person," Thuong Huyen added.
Eager to conquer challenges in the Year of the Dragon
The year 2023 of the female MC born in the year of the Dragon can be summed up in two words: "explosive" with many new milestones. Thuong Huyen is fortunate to approach and lead events with a scale of up to 10,000 people. Besides, she also has many experiences and discoveries in life through her travels.
Looking back on the journey of the past year, Thuong Huyen feels most satisfied with being able to shout out the two words Vietnam many times at international events, meeting Consulates General and representatives of countries such as Germany, Italy, Thailand, France, England, Portugal...
The female MC born in 2000 feels proud that Vietnam is gradually becoming a bright spot, continuously hosting large and influential events in the region.
Thuong Huyen confided: "As a young person of the Gen Z generation (those born between 1997 and 2012), I have a desire to reach out to the ocean and connect with the world out there. However, to do that, I have to start from "very small" things.
Maintaining a progressive attitude, training myself, and being meticulous in my work are things I always remind myself every day. I believe that when I am ready, opportunities will definitely come."
According to many people, the year of the Dragon is often less lucky and requires more attention and caution, but the female MC from Nghe An does not think so. As a Dragon, Thuong Huyen has "special" expectations for 2024.
At the beginning of the new year, Thuong Huyen feels very excited and ready to conquer the next milestones. The image of a flying dragon symbolizes freedom, openness and a bit of indomitability. This is also the image she wants to aim for in the year of the Dragon.
