Reuters news agency on January 21 quoted a police spokesman in Badakhshan province (Afghanistan) as saying that the force had received information about a plane crash in the province.
The incident happened overnight in a remote mountainous area of Badakhshan province in northern Afghanistan. The spokesman said there was no information about the type of plane, the cause of the crash or the number of casualties.
WION radio station quoted information from Afghan media and a Taliban official as saying that this was an Indian plane flying to Moscow (Russia), crashed in the Wakhan region of Badakhshan province.
The fall site is on Mount Topkhaneh, a mountainous area that overlaps the districts of Karan, Manjan and Zibak in Badakhshan.

According to Anadolu Agency, an Indian passenger plane disappeared from radar screens on the evening of January 20 (local time), crashing into the Topkhaneh mountain area of this province.
Meanwhile, Xinhua news agency (China) reported that Mr. Zabihullah Amiri, an official of Badakhshan province, said that a team had been sent to the area where the plane crashed; so far, it has not been determined which company this passenger plane belonged to.
According to Afghan press, the plane crashed at a time when India had canceled or delayed many flights, and even delayed or canceled many trains due to thick fog and cold weather in the past few days.
Afghan press reported that the weather in Badakhshan province where the plane crash occurred was foggy and very cold.
