Bringing Tet to hundreds of thousands of workers

This is one of many activities contributing to Tet care that trade unions at all levels in Ho Chi Minh City are preparing for the Tet At Ty 2025.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Do, Head of the Policy and Law Department (Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation), said that this is one of the ways "for workers to enjoy the latest development achievements of the city".

The joyful Tet celebration programs are also a way to introduce the development achievements of Ho Chi Minh City to workers and invite them to enjoy these achievements as a force that contributes greatly to the city.

Bringing more than 50,000 workers and laborers back to their hometowns to celebrate Tet

* Statistics show that more than 70% of workers in Ho Chi Minh City come from other places. How will the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union support workers returning home for Tet this year, sir?

– The 16th year of the “Ticket of Love” program has been maintained by the City Trade Union, providing practical support to workers. Three simultaneous activities were carried out, including giving away bus, train, and plane tickets to workers who have not returned home for many years, with tens of thousands of people. Giving away train and plane tickets is seen as an encouragement for union members, workers, and laborers with good achievements.

Air tickets are awarded to outstanding union members who have won awards from the City Union and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor such as Ton Duc Thang, Nguyen Van Linh, Nguyen Duc Canh, Ho Chi Minh City Creative Awards... It could be a reward to encourage them to continue contributing more to the development of the city.

* How will the city support a large number of workers returning home for Tet?

– Many programs are being implemented at the same time, but we clearly identify the focus of the programs at the unit and enterprise. Enterprises are the first place to care for workers so that they feel attached and supported by the enterprise. Enterprises will be the place to organize bus trips, the union will give Tet gifts, organize and coordinate to bring workers back to their hometowns instead of hiring an organization.

Every year, the union cooperates with businesses to support about 50,000 tickets for workers to reunite with their families. As we can see, with many programs to support workers and laborers to return to their hometowns for Tet, every year the labor force returning to the city to work always reaches 98%, helping production and business activities not to be interrupted.

Enjoy the fruits of the city's development together

* It is known that the union also has many activities to take care of workers staying in the city to celebrate Tet. Are there any new activities this year?

– For workers staying in the city to celebrate Tet, there will be programs for workers to shop for Tet, specifically the Workers’ Festival – a charity market that encourages non-cash use. This activity is also for workers returning to their hometowns to celebrate Tet. Each worker will be transferred 1 million VND to their Zalopay wallet to shop at the markets.

The biggest market this year was held at the riverside park of Thu Duc City with about 9,500 workers participating. This is also a place of entertainment with beautiful scenery that attracts many tourists. Workers come here to shop, enjoy spring, and see the transformation of the city.

This year, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation also organized the “Tet Sum Vay – Xuan Doan Ket” Festival, expected to attract about 15,000 workers’ and laborers’ families. Each family will receive 1.5 million VND and a gift of 300,000 VND (an increase of 80% compared to last year).

* Tet is an occasion to strengthen family ties and reunions, this is also a typical cultural feature of the traditional Vietnamese New Year...

– The highlight of this year is that we organize the program “Worker families celebrate Tet with the city” for 10,000 households associated with the experience of metro line 1. Families will have fun at Suoi Tien Cultural Tourism Area, swim in the artificial sea, participate in many free games with meals (200,000 VND/person). Each household receives lucky money of 300,000 VND and uses this money to take the metro from many places to Suoi Tien to have fun and then return.

In parallel, there are also programs for children such as Tet for children, activities to visit businesses, union members, workers with serious illnesses, units in remote areas, giving gifts to workers working at key projects of the city such as metro, Ring Road 3...

Join hands to bring workers home for Tet

This year’s “Spring Train” program was assigned by the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation to the Ho Chi Minh City Export Processing and Industrial Zones Trade Union to implement. About 500 families, including parents and children, were given train tickets to return home. They are poor families who have not had the opportunity to return home for many years and actively participate in trade union activities…

In addition, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor also allocated 120 plane tickets within the framework of the "Spring Flight" program for workers with outstanding achievements to Vinh City (Nghe An), Hanoi and an additional 400 train tickets of the "Spring Train" program.

The Ho Chi Minh City Labor Union also coordinated with Zalopay to organize 19 bus trips to take union members back to their hometowns from Zalopay's mobilization, joining hands with the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union to support 1,500 bus tickets for young workers to return home for Tet. The new point is that this year the union coordinated with the Social Work Center to have 10 bus trips for the families of union members of technology car companies, domestic helpers, etc.
