(Dan Tri) - Russia is using unconventional tactics by bringing electric scooters into combat in Ukraine.

The Azov Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine recently released footage showing Russian soldiers using electric scooters while attacking Ukrainian positions in Torets, a village in the Kramatorsk region of Donetsk.
Russian forces on the front lines are using a variety of vehicles, such as scooters and buggies. This may also be due to a lack of better means of transport.
The video says: "Every day, Russian infantry tries to break through the defenses by any means possible, trying to seize positions in ruined buildings, basements or forests. In recent months, during major offensives, Russia has lost many armored vehicles. Therefore, now Russian forces have to use motorcycles, buggies and even electric scooters on a large scale."
The combat effectiveness of scooters has yet to be evaluated, but their use may provide some advantages.
The advantage of this type of vehicle on the battlefield is its high maneuverability, being able to travel at speeds of up to 60 km/h. In addition, they have low noise levels because the electric motor is almost silent. Moreover, the battery in the scooter can serve as a backup charger. They can also be easily abandoned in case of emergency.
The Russian military uses off-road versions of electric scooters designed to move over bomb-damaged surfaces. Such devices cost around $485-2,300. The most common load capacity is around 150kg.
However, electric scooters are not immune to firepower. Additionally, they are at a disadvantage in a first-person view (FPV) drone confrontation, as drones are typically faster.
Reports of scooter use emerged after an incident on December 17, when a scooter fitted with a homemade bomb exploded outside a Moscow apartment building, killing Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, the commander of Russia's radiological, chemical and biological defense forces, and his assistant.
In June, the Russian military put motorcycles into use. The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that Russian servicemen from the Vostok combat group actively used motorcycles and ATVs in an attempt to seize control of the village of Staromayorskoye and other settlements as they approached the Ugledar area in the Donbass region of eastern Ukraine.
The Russian army has adopted a new tactic of using motorcycles to cross open fields, minimizing the risk of being attacked by Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and penetrating enemy defenses from the flanks.
“Motorcycles are used, for example, to penetrate enemy lines, storming certain positions, if these positions have previously been suppressed by artillery or drones,” Viktor Litovkin, a retired Russian army colonel and military analyst, told Sputnik.
"The Russian army initially stunned the enemy with artillery or missiles, then quickly approached the area. While the enemy was panicking, motorcycle brigades appeared and attacked," Mr. Litovkin said.
However, after a while, the motorcycles proved ineffective because they were easy targets for Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), according to Defense News.
