Rahmat Erwin Abdullah is one of the golden hopes of the Indonesian sports delegation at the 19th ASIAD. The athlete born in 2000 completed his mission to help the Indonesian delegation gain more gold medals, raising the hope of returning to the top 10 of the overall rankings.
In the men's 73kg weightlifting category at the 19th Asian Games, Abdullah successfully lifted 158kg in the snatch and 201kg in the clean and jerk, for a total of 359kg. Notably, the 201kg lift was a new world record, breaking the previous milestone set by Abdullah himself.
This spectacular lift was the key factor that helped Abdullah win the gold medal. Previously, in the snatch competition, the Indonesian athlete's 158kg performance was only second, behind China's representative Wei Yinting. In the clean and jerk competition, Wei Yinting failed all three times with a weight of 180kg, far behind Abdullah.

Athlete Weeraphon Wichuma (19 years old) from Thailand, the reigning world champion in the 73kg weight class, had to accept second place with a total lift of 351kg. Korean athlete Oh Kum-taek won the bronze medal with a total lift of 344kg.
“It was amazing, it was as exciting a competition as I expected. I am really excited about what happened,” Rahmat Erwin Abdullah said after winning.
Bola website used the word “crazy” to describe Abdullah’s victory. This is the 5th gold medal of the Indonesian sports delegation at this year’s games. After that, the athletes of the archipelago won another gold medal from Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi in the sport climbing event.
Thus, at the end of October 3, Indonesia rose to 12th place on the overall ranking with 6 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 13 bronze medals.
