Border protection forces of Vietnam and Cambodia strengthen cooperation

Since the beginning of 2023, the Border Guard Command of Binh Phuoc province and Military Sub-region 2 of Kratie and Tboung Khmum provinces have coordinated to strictly implement the agreement on Border Regulations, promptly exchanging information related to border management and protection, and activities of various types of crimes on the border.

Overview of the meeting

The parties held 19 meetings and exchanges via letters and telephone calls with 194 officers participating; of which, 8 meetings were held with Tboung Khum Military Sub-region with 100 officers participating, and 11 meetings were held with Kratie Military Sub-region with 94 officers participating.

In addition, border posts of the Border Guard of Binh Phuoc province and companies and battalions of the Border Guard of Military Sub-region 2 of the province organized 11 talks with the participation of 299 officers.

This has contributed to maintaining the relationship of solidarity, friendship, cooperation in management, firmly protecting territorial sovereignty, border security, and effectively preventing and combating all types of crimes, protecting the results of border demarcation and marker planting, and preventing violations of border regulations.

Military sub-regions of Tboung Khmum and Kratie provinces (Kingdom of Cambodia) attended the talks.

At the meeting, the two sides discussed and agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding on future cooperation.

Accordingly, the parties continue to proactively, actively and promptly exchange information in border management and protection; regularly organize bilateral patrols, protect the safety of the border system and national border markers; promptly prevent and suppress all types of crimes. At the same time, closely coordinate to quickly and effectively resolve issues arising in the border area in the spirit of solidarity, friendship, cooperation and respect for each other's territorial sovereignty.

In addition, the two sides also agreed to continue to coordinate in disseminating to the people of both sides the agreements on border regulations signed by the two States; creating conditions for people of both sides to visit relatives, trade, exchange goods, and receive medical treatment in accordance with regulations.

Tay Ninh Provincial Police, Binh Phuoc Provincial Police and TboungKhmum Provincial Police signed a memorandum of understanding to improve the direction of continued cooperation and information exchange on border security and order.

Previously, on September 19, in TboungKhmum province (Kingdom of Cambodia), Binh Phuoc Provincial Police and Tay Ninh Provincial Police attended a conference on cooperation in preventing and combating border crimes with TboungKhmum Provincial Police.

In 2023 and the first 6 months of 2024, the Tboung Khmum Provincial Police Department, Tay Ninh Provincial Police, and Binh Phuoc Provincial Police will always maintain a close relationship, coordinate information exchange, strengthen cooperation in preventing and suppressing all types of crimes in border areas, especially illegal border crossing crimes, always promptly not allowing criminals and hostile forces the opportunity to sabotage security and order in the border areas of the two countries.

At the conference, Tay Ninh Provincial Police, Binh Phuoc Provincial Police and TboungKhmum Provincial Police signed a memorandum of understanding to improve the direction of continued cooperation in exchanging information on the border security and order situation as well as the activities of hostile forces, international terrorist organizations and law-breaking subjects of each country.

In order to enhance cooperation activities, the two sides agreed to step up propaganda and education to advise people living along the border on both sides to understand the border regulations and other agreements signed by the two governments. Thereby, raising the awareness of the people of the two countries in jointly protecting security and order in the border area.

In particular, it is necessary to strengthen propaganda and education of people about the harmful effects of drugs to raise people's awareness and contribute to building a drug-free border area.
