To me, the Northwest is the place with Lung Cu flagpole guarding the northernmost point of the country, with the red flag with yellow star always fluttering; Fansipan peak, the "roof of Indochina", is becoming an attractive check-in spot for young people; Ban Gioc waterfall is as beautiful as a painting with the majestic Truc Lam pagoda located in a place that seems to be "deep in the mountains and valleys" where the sovereignty bell rings day and night in the border area.
The Northwest still retains in my memory the images of xoe dances, xoan songs; bamboo tubes of rice served with fragrant grilled meat of the Muong people, the five-color sticky rice of the Thai people, and the "suffocating" men men dish that the H'Mong children shared with me on the journey to explore the Dong Van stone plateau.
