On the evening of October 15 (local time), the Victoria's Secret lingerie brand's show - Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2024 - returned after a 6-year hiatus.
In 2019, most fashion shows, including Victoria's Secret, were postponed due to the pandemic. In addition, the lingerie giant faced criticism for its lack of diversity and relevance in the changing global fashion landscape.
The 2024 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show marks an effort to revive the catwalk, combining the brand's desire to showcase a new, comprehensive vision. In addition, this year's show is even more attractive with the presence of Lisa - the first female Kpop idol to appear on the Victoria's Secret stage.
Lisa shows off her sexy figure in lingerie
Before the official show, Lisa walked the pink carpet in shorts, a bra and a see-through cape - designs from the Victoria's Secret archives. The bra was studded with sparkling rhinestones, while the cape was embroidered with moons and stars.
This stunning bra and gown was worn by former Victoria's Secret Angel Taylor Hill in her final show before her hiatus in 2018.
When it came time to perform, Lisa wore not one but two different outfits.
The first outfit was inspired by the style of a racing athlete. The Money singer wore a wing-shaped bra with a star in the middle, combined with a long-sleeved jacket and a short skirt made from more than 1,000 soda can poppers. A large belt with Lisa's name on it created a unique highlight for the female singer.
Moving on to her second outfit, Lisa transformed into a sexy lingerie angel with eye-catching wings. She wore a black lace bodysuit with floral motifs, combined with vines and flowers winding around her body.
Reunion of lingerie angels
Gigi Hadid took on the opening role with oversized pink angel wings.
Next, the most sought-after models today appear one after another: Imaan Hammam, Grace Elizabeth, Liu Wen, Anok Yai, Taylor Hill, Lila Moss, Vittoria Ceretti, Maty Fall, Josephine Skriver, Joan Smalls, Irina Shayk, He Cong, Bella Hadid...
The event also features veteran lingerie angels such as Tyra Banks, Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Candice Swanepoel, Behati Prinsloo, Doutzen Kroes, Jasmine Tookes...
In an effort to embrace diversity, the show features a number of plus-size models including Devyn Garcia, Ashley Graham, Paloma Elsesser, Jill Kortleve.
More specifically, for the first time, transgender models walked the Victoria's Secret runway. They were Valentina Sampaio and Alex Consani.
The lingerie brand connected generations of fashion by inviting famous supermodels of the 90s - Kate Moss, Carla Bruni, Eva Herzigová - to attend the show.
Towards a new era
In May, when announcing the 2024 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show , the brand wrote on Instagram that it had "read the comments and listened to our customers," as well as committing to delivering a show that "reflects the essence of the brand today."
Ahead of the show, the question was whether Victoria's Secret really brought new things in fashion thinking, expressing the honor of individuality, or was still stuck with outdated beauty standards.
One of the notable changes to this year’s show is the addition of designer Joseph Altuzarra, as the brand’s atelier designer. Joseph Altuzarra has his own eponymous fashion label, known for his expert tailoring and exquisite ready-to-wear collections.
Sharing in Vogue magazine recently, Joseph Altuzarra revealed: "Victoria's Secret exists in a feminine and seductive world. Questioning the definition of sexiness, the definition of femininity makes me really interesting and sympathetic."
Joseph Altuzarra's designs for the 2024 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show reflect feminine beauty, combined with drama.
The designer uses feathers, visual illusions, and skillfully tailored lines to evoke a sense of fantasy and power. Through this, high fashion is harmoniously combined with the brand's seductive, sensual heritage.
