According to the Earthquake and Tsunami Warning Center, the first earthquake occurred at 11:31 a.m. (Hanoi time) with a magnitude of 3.4 on the Richter scale. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 8.1 km.
Twenty-six minutes later, at 11:57:14, a second earthquake struck the same area at the same depth of 8.1km with a magnitude of 2.7 on the Richter scale.
Next, at 12:16 to 12:41, Kon Plong district, Kon Tum province recorded 4 more earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.6 to 3.4 on the Richter scale.
These are small earthquakes that may cause slight shaking of the surface near the epicenter but are unlikely to cause damage. The Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center continues to monitor these earthquakes.

Notably, recently, the stimulated earthquakes in Kon Plong district have tended to become more active again. In the past 10 days, this area has recorded about 14 earthquakes, most of which were small earthquakes.
Most of the earthquakes here are induced earthquakes caused by hydroelectric and irrigation reservoirs storing water, affecting the active fault system below, causing earthquakes to occur earlier than natural laws. Induced earthquakes can occur in a short time, or they can last for several decades as has occurred in India.
The earthquake in Kon Tum province was a reservoir-induced earthquake.
