When will the ceremony to award the titles of People's Artist and Meritorious Artist be held?

Previously, the ceremony to award the titles of People's Artist and Meritorious Artist was scheduled to take place on the morning of January 26, but was announced to be postponed to January 31, 2024 at the Hanoi Opera House.

Specifically, according to Decision 1431/QD-CTN signed by President Vo Van Thuong on November 28, 2023, 42 individuals were awarded the title of People's Artist. The first list was approved and signed by the President on June 22, 2023, with 77 artists awarded. Including both lists, a total of 119 artists were awarded the title of People's Artist for the 10th time.

In addition, 256 individuals were awarded the title of Meritorious Artist, 5 individuals were posthumously awarded the title of People's Artist and 1 individual was posthumously awarded the title of Meritorious Artist.

Many prominent artists such as Thanh Lam, Tan Minh, Xuan Bac, Tran Luc, Pham Phuong Thao, Quoc Khanh... will be honored at the award ceremony.

In addition to the certificate of merit, the artists who are awarded the title will receive a corresponding bonus according to regulations. After being awarded the title, the artists will also receive a salary increase from the governing body.

Sharing with the press, Meritorious Artist Si Tien - Director of the Youth Theater said that when having a title, they will be considered for promotion and accordingly, the monthly salary of artists awarded the title of Meritorious Artist or People's Artist will also increase. An increase of about 1 salary level is equivalent to about more than 1 million VND.

According to Mr. Si Tien, the bonus amount for artists who are awarded the title is also clearly regulated, based on the basic salary. And the bonus amount will be sent directly to each artist's account.

According to Decree 98/2023/ND-CP of the Government detailing the implementation of a number of articles of the Law on Emulation and Commendation, effective from January 1, 2024.

In which, the bonus for People's Artist is 12.5 times the basic salary, for Meritorious Artist is 9 times the basic salary.

Specifically, the People's Artist title receives a bonus of 22.5 million VND, equivalent to a coefficient of 12.5. The Meritorious Artist title receives a bonus of 16.2 million VND, equivalent to a coefficient of 9.
