The closing ceremony of the 32nd SEA Games opened with the performance of See you again and in turn a performance of Cambodia's traditional martial art Kun Bokator with the participation of dozens of martial artists, martial artists and artists.
Following the opening act, 11 sports delegations marched onto the main stage. Today, the 32nd SEA Games concluded after more than 20 days of competition with 37 sports and 581 events.
On the medal tally, the Vietnam Sports Delegation (VSD) ranked first overall with a total of 136 gold medals, 105 silver medals and 114 bronze medals. With this achievement, the Games in Cambodia were considered by the VSD to be the most successful as it won first overall for the first time not as the host.
The Thai team ranked second at the 32nd SEA Games (108 gold medals, 96 silver medals, 108 bronze medals) and the host team ranked third. The Cambodian team won 81 gold medals, 74 silver medals and 128 bronze medals and is considered the most successful Games in the history of the host country.
At this congress, the Timor Leste team ranked last in the medal table and did not win any gold or silver medals, only 8 bronze medals.
Right after the sports delegations was a parade of volunteers who provided all support to officials, experts, coaches and athletes of the sports delegations at the 32nd SEA Games.
Prime Minister Hun Sen delivers closing speech at SEA Games 32
Following the performances and parade, President of the Southeast Asian Games Federation - Mr. Thong Khon and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense of Cambodia Tea Banh, Head of the Organizing Committee of the 32nd SEA Games, took turns speaking. Finally, Prime Minister Hun Sen was the one who spoke to conclude the closing ceremony with the sacred torch of the games gradually extinguished after 12 days of continuous lighting.
The 2 best athletes of the congress received awards
During the ceremony, the host country's athlete Bou Sammang was honored for his unyielding performance in the grueling 5,000m race in the pouring rain while running alone in the final lap. In addition, two athletes Quah Ting Wehn (swimming, Singapore) and Choraksmey (Vovinam - Cambodia) were honored and awarded the title of the best athlete of the Games.
Flag handover ceremony for the host of SEA Games 33 - Thailand
After that, the ceremony of handing over the SEA Games flag of Cambodia to Thailand, the host country at the next congress and the art performances to greet the host of SEA Games 33. SEA Games 33 will take place from December 9 to 20, 2025 in 3 cities of Thailand, including: Bangkok, Chonburi and Songkhla.
