Doctors performed endoscopy and successfully removed a foreign object, a coin, stuck in the esophagus of patient NNA (60 months old, from Thach Ha commune, Ha Tinh city).
Doctors performed endoscopy to remove coin in patient's esophagus
Initial information, in the early morning of September 17, the Pediatrics Department, Ha Tinh General Hospital received patient NNA who showed signs of fussiness and sore throat.
Through examination and consultation, the doctors determined that A. had a foreign object, a coin, stuck in the upper esophageal sphincter (very close to the airway). The patient was assigned an endoscopy to remove the foreign object.
After about 10 minutes of endoscopy, the foreign object, a round coin, about 2cm in diameter, yellow in color, was removed from patient A's esophagus.

According to the patient's family, while playing, A. accidentally swallowed a coin in his mouth. After that, he started crying and complaining of a sore throat. Not knowing what to do and fearing that he might be in danger, the family immediately took him to Ha Tinh General Hospital for examination.

According to doctors, if patient A. does not undergo endoscopy to remove the foreign object in time, his health may deteriorate because the foreign object, such as a metal coin, will have difficulty exiting the body naturally. Currently, patient A. is stable and his sore throat is gone.
