The history of Tra Que vegetable village was born and existed for nearly 400 years, closely associated with Hoi An ancient town. Locals said that the oasis in Tra Que was previously an alluvial area. Locals found the land good so they planted vegetables and noted that the quality and productivity were much better than other places.
From ancient times to the present, some households have used moss and compost from the Co Co River located near the vegetable village as fertilizer. Perhaps that is why vegetables in Tra Que are considered to be more fragrant, crispy, and colorful than those grown in other soil areas in Quang Nam.
With Tra Que vegetable village being included in the list of the best tourist villages in the world, Hoi An city has more motivation to firmly orient itself towards becoming a cultural, ecological and environmental urban area.
