The program "For the National Green Environment" is an initiative of the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment since 2012, aiming to effectively implement Resolution No. 24 - NQ/TW of the Central Executive Committee of the Party on proactively responding to climate change, strengthening resource management and environmental protection.
In 2023, the Program carries the message: Green living, green production, ecosystem protection, climate change adaptation, creating harmonious and sustainable development. Along with propaganda activities to raise public awareness of the responsibility to protect the environment, the Program has promoted its role as a bridge connecting and encouraging businesses to comply with policies and laws on environmental protection in production, business and service activities.
After more than 6 months of implementation (from May to November 2023), many domestic enterprises have submitted applications to respond to the Program. The Emulation and Reward Council of the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment has selected 28 enterprises to propose the Association to award certificates of merit. Of which, 5 enterprises were awarded by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
According to Dr. Tran Van Mieu, Vice President of the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment - Head of the program's Organizing Committee, the activities of enterprises partly clearly demonstrate the current development trend in Vietnam, which is to prioritize the implementation of green economy, circular economy, sharing economy and building a green lifestyle. Many enterprises apply advanced, modern technology to production processes and waste treatment to help save energy and reduce emissions; apply ecological, organic agricultural solutions, biotechnology... not only to bring economic benefits but also to protect the environment and ecosystem.

In particular, a number of enterprises were nominated by localities for their positive contributions to socio-economic development, implementation of green growth strategies, environmental protection, and climate change response in that locality.
“Every industry has a green economic and circular economic model, but most of them are in the initial stage. For these models to develop, the State needs to have policies and mechanisms to encourage the business community and entrepreneurs to take the lead in implementing green and circular economies in increasingly sustainable industries and fields,” emphasized Dr. Tran Van Mieu.
Prof. Dr. Dang Huy Huynh shared that the program is an opportunity for the community, businesses and state management agencies to join together and convey the Party and State's policies on environmental protection and saving natural resources. In particular, this is also an activity contributing to the implementation of Vietnam's political commitment to zero net greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Together with the world, Vietnam will build a low-carbon economy and meet the requirements of environmental protection and nature conservation.
Speaking at the event, Miss Vietnam 2020 Do Thi Ha said she actively spreads green living to the community, not only as the Goodwill Ambassador of the Program but also because she wants to inspire more and more people, especially young people, to support the green living trend, minimizing the impact on the environment. Simple actions such as not using plastic bags, saving electricity, water... can all become good habits in the community.
At the event, representatives of businesses joined hands to sign a commitment with the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment, expressing the businesses' viewpoints in production and business activities, making practical contributions to environmental protection.
According to the Organizing Committee, on November 18-19, 2023, at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square, Hoan Kiem walking street, Hanoi, there will be a Green Living Gala and green model exhibition, promoting green products and services; activities to award certificates of merit to organizations and individuals with outstanding contributions to environmental protection.
On the morning of November 19, the Closing Ceremony and Awarding of Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and Certificate of Recognition "For the National Green Environment 2023" to typical enterprises with positive contributions to environmental protection.
