Tran Quyet Chien and Bao Phuong Vinh created the final match of Vietnam. In the history of 75 times of organization, this is the second time the world final has been held internally. Before that, it was in 2017 with two Belgian players, Frederic Caudron and Eddy Merckx.
Quyet Chien is rated higher as he is ranked 10th in the world. Previously in July, he won the World Cup in Porto, Portugal. This is one of 6 World Cups of the year organized by the World Billiard Union (UMB). Meanwhile, Bao Phuong Vinh is ranked 21st in the world, quite far from Quyet Chien.

Quyet Chien won the right to start. However, he only got 1 point in this turn. When it was Phuong Vinh's turn, he won 5 consecutive points to create a gap with his opponent. The two players continuously chased each other in the first 10 turns. Quyet Chien made many mistakes so he could not surpass Phuong Vinh's score.
In the 12th round, Quyet Chien won a 6-point series to lead 21-20. This was Quyet Chien's highest scoring series since the beginning of the match. But Bao Phuong Vinh showed how well he was playing in this year's tournament. In the 15th round, he won a 8-point series to lead 29-22.

Being behind and having a tense mentality, Tran Quyet Chien could not narrow the gap in points with his opponent. As a result, after 33 turns, Bao Phuong Vinh won with a score of 50-34.
Phuong Vinh became the first Vietnamese player to win the world championship. Previously, Vietnam's best achievement in this tournament was runner-up Nguyen Duc Anh Chien (2019).
The World 3-Cushion Carom Billiard Championship (World Championship) is the most prestigious tournament of UMB, taking place once a year.
On the way to the final, Quyet Chien eliminated two very strong players, Marco Zanetti (Italian, world No. 2) in the quarterfinals and Tayfun Tasdemir (Turkish, world No. 7) in the semi-finals. Tayfun Tasdemir is the 2022 champion.
New champion Bao Phuong Vinh impressed when he defeated Pedro Piedrabuena (American, world No. 20) in the quarterfinals. In the semi-finals, he eliminated Cho Myung Woo (Korean, world No. 6) with a close score of 50-48.
