On the morning of October 14, the opening ceremony of the Northern Information and Communications (ICT) Sports Festival took place in Hanoi.
The sports festival took place in a joyful and exciting atmosphere of a series of activities to celebrate the 78th anniversary of the tradition of the Information and Communications sector (August 28, 1945 - August 28, 2023); the traditional day of the Vietnam Postal Industry (August 15, 1945); the 69th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2023) and respond to the National Digital Transformation Day (October 10, 2023).
Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung presented souvenir flags and flowers to the athletes participating in the Sports Festival.
In his opening speech, Mr. Pham Duc Long - Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Sports Festival said that in order to enhance the spirit of solidarity, create a healthy and practical playground and a joyful and exciting atmosphere for officials, civil servants, public employees and workers in the Information and Communications sector, the Ministry of Information and Communications organizes the Northern Region Information and Communications Sports Festival in 2023.
This year's sports festival has the participation of 31 delegations, of which 7 delegations are units under the Ministry, 16 delegations are Departments of Information and Communications in the Northern region and 8 delegations are enterprises in the field of Information and Communications.
This year's Northern Region Information and Communications Industry Sports Festival was held for the first time with more than 700 athletes competing in many different sports.

According to Deputy Minister Pham Duc Long, the sports festival is an exciting and lively playground for officials, civil servants, public employees and workers in the Information and Communications sector in the Northern region, creating solidarity and cohesion between agencies, units and localities and is an opportunity for officials, civil servants and public employees in the Information and Communications sector to meet, exchange and learn, and share experiences in management, expertise and profession, contributing to the good performance of assigned tasks in each locality and unit.
The Head of the Sports Festival Organizing Committee quoted President Ho Chi Minh's advice when he was alive: "Under a democratic regime, sports and physical education must become common activities of the masses, aiming to improve people's health. When people are healthy, all work can be done well. Therefore, practicing physical education and improving health is the duty of every patriotic citizen. We should launch a widespread physical education and sports movement."

Within the framework of the Northern Information and Communications Industry Sports Festival, the Signing Ceremony of the Coordination Regulations between the Office of the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Departments of Information and Communications in the Northern region took place.
The purpose of coordination is to enhance the effectiveness of coordination between the two units in performing assigned functions and tasks.
