Eliminating the gap and comprehensive differences between multi-generational employees, especially with young Gen Z, thereby creating a breakthrough for businesses is always a difficult problem for leaders.

Gen Z workers are increasingly making up a high proportion of corporations and businesses. This generation has many advantages and disadvantages, especially "big ego".
Gen Z has many advantages, but also many disadvantages.
The above topic was discussed at the Holistic Excellence - Generation in Unity conference, organized by CareerViet on the afternoon of December 5 in Ho Chi Minh City. CareerViet is one of the pioneering companies in the field of recruitment and human resource management solutions in Vietnam.
Ms. To Thi Thu Thuy, human resources director of OPPO Vietnam, said that the rate of Gen Z workers is gradually increasing in many businesses.
The advantage of Generation Z is that they were born in the age of technology, so their knowledge and information are very solid. Gen Z is good at creativity and adaptation, learns new things very quickly, knows how to search for knowledge and filter information.
However, an invisible advantage that becomes a disadvantage and a challenge for Gen Z is overconfidence, so it is difficult to recognize the points that need improvement. Taking soft skills lightly and not focusing on improving them is also mentioned by Ms. Thuy when talking about young workers.
"For Gen Z, just sending a message or an email is enough to convey information. However, other generations of workers want to communicate directly, because when working, not everything can be one and the same, there must be a lot of coordination and discussion," said Ms. Thuy.
JOTUN Vietnam's HR Director Hoang Thanh Hai said that currently, the employees working with Gen Z at his company are still Generation Y.
He sees many advantages from Gen Z such as being agile, learning quickly, working quickly, and being tech-savvy. This generation always directly addresses issues with leaders about benefits, salaries, and promotion opportunities.
Chasing salary values makes you jump from one company to another. The consequence is that there are many big risks later when you do not have much experience, knowledge, experience, or specific titles.

What does Gen Z look for when going to work?
Mr. Nguyen Anh Duc, General Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Trading Cooperatives (Saigon Co.op), said that Gen Z brings positive energy and prosperity. The problem that needs to be recognized in these young people is that they are placing a lot of expectations on good bosses.
A boss is a combination of three elements: taking on all responsibilities but daring to delegate and delegate authority, showing employees the value of both sides, and being decisive but not domineering at work.
"Many employees told me that Gen Z makes them feel pressured," said Ms. Pham Thi Quy Hien, HR director of Masan Consumer Goods Joint Stock Company (part of Masan Group).
According to Ms. Hien, Gen Z is impatient to wait for the right opportunity to develop their career. The ambition to develop themselves is good, but after just one project is completed, Gen Z stands up to ask the leader about consideration, promotion opportunities, and salary increases.

According to Ms. To Thi Thu Thuy, the key factor to successfully interact with Gen Z is understanding, which must originate from previous generations. Understanding is a given, but knowing the advantages to take advantage of, exploit, and put favorable jobs in the hands of Gen Z employees is essential.
"Gen Z always does well in jobs that require creativity and innovation, so we need to pay attention to job placement, they will bring strong breakthroughs," Ms. Thuy emphasized.
Mr. Pham Hong Hai, General Director of Orient Commercial Joint Stock Bank (OCB), shared that even the bank's leadership is extremely excited to work with Gen Z. The positive side is that "they are very multi-tasking and do not work just for money".
"Gen Z is prone to crisis, maybe because they access and play social networks a lot, while there is always goodness present, so when they encounter difficulties or negativity, they have a crisis," Mr. Hai emphasized.
The key word to reconcile multi-generational workers is empathy, as Mr. Hai mentioned. Empathy here means deep listening. Gen Z must feel empathy, understanding, and sympathy, ready to help, ready to listen. Especially, do not impose on Gen Z.
