(Fatherland) - Lam Dong is striving to meet the standards to become a modern, unique, green, smart and livable centrally-governed city by 2050.
At the Investment Forum "Green Plateau Lam Dong sustainable green transformation: Opportunities for investors" on the afternoon of October 30, Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Pham Hong Thai emphasized "The province needs to continue to promote the achievements, mobilize all resources to build the province to develop rapidly and sustainably, with cultural development as the spiritual foundation; ensuring national defense and security as the key, socio-economic development based on three main pillars" to ensure the implementation of policies and orientations set forth by the Party and State, in addition to the attention and support from the Central Government, coordination between localities in the region; the efforts of all levels and sectors in the province in the coming time.

Mr. Pham Hong Thai listed the three main pillars in turn. Firstly, modern agriculture, being a center for research and production of smart, efficient agriculture, organic agriculture at national and international levels. Secondly, developing tourism - services towards high quality and sustainability, in which Da Lat city becomes a center for services - eco-tourism, high-class resorts, agricultural tourism and cultural - heritage tourism, scenic spots at national and international levels.
Finally, the industry is selective, prioritizing the development of high-tech industries, environmentally friendly industries, focusing on developing key industries, deep processing industries, supporting industries, pharmaceutical processing industries, pharmaceuticals and functional foods from agricultural products. "Promoting the development of high-quality human resources; applying new scientific and technological advances to economic development; ensuring a modern and sustainable economic structure," Mr. Pham Hong Thai added.
Lam Dong has a natural area of 9,781.2 km2, a population of 1.33 million people; has a very important strategic position in terms of geography, geo-economics, politics, security, and national defense. It is a locality directly connecting 3 economic regions: the Central Highlands, the South Central Coast and the Southeast - the most dynamically developing region in Vietnam.
Besides the outstanding natural advantages, the culture of Lam Dong ethnic minorities has many unique features, typically the Gong Cultural Space - a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity recognized by UNESCO, creating its own strengths for Lam Dong to develop various types of eco-tourism, resorts, cultural - historical tourism and community tourism, attracting domestic and foreign tourists.
According to the Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, the remarkable achievements in the construction and development of the province after more than 35 years of renovation are a fairly large economy compared to the region; high budget revenue, large capital mobilization capacity; developed high-tech agricultural production, organic agriculture, smart agriculture and circular agriculture are given attention for development; regional linkage is valued; development of science and technology, digital economy, digital transformation and urban economy are given attention and promoted. However, the rapid urbanization and industrialization process also poses difficulties in exploiting, using water resources, resources, land effectively and sustainably, and handling environmental pollution,... becoming challenges for rapid and sustainable development.

After reiterating the goal of "The Central Highlands is a region of rapid and sustainable development based on a green, circular economy; rich in national cultural identity, a unique and attractive destination" as set out in Resolution No. 23 of the Politburo on the direction of socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security in the Central Highlands region until 2030, with a vision to 2045; Mr. Pham Hong Thai also informed that the Lam Dong Provincial Planning determined that "By 2030, Lam Dong will develop rapidly and sustainably; develop a green economy, a circular economy. Taking agricultural and forestry development as the focus and support; developing the processing industry as the driving force; developing tourism as a breakthrough. By 2050, Lam Dong province will meet the standards to become a modern, distinctive, green, smart and livable city directly under the Central Government".
Mr. Pham Hong Thai also shared that when building the Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, Lam Dong is very interested in reducing greenhouse gas emissions (NetZero) through prioritizing the development of renewable energy projects, solid waste treatment associated with modern treatment technology, etc. In addition, on August 26, 2024, at the working session with the Standing Committee of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested adding strategic breakthroughs for Lam Dong province, which are "Developing digital economy, green economy, circular economy, knowledge economy, sharing economy, night-time economy, combating climate change, developing cultural industry, entertainment industry".
“Lam Dong commits to further and substantially improve the investment and business environment, creating a favorable and sustainable business environment, ensuring security and safety for investors within the framework of legal regulations. The province will always accompany investors, create all conditions and provide the most active support for investors when they come to invest in Lam Dong province,” Mr. Pham Hong Thai affirmed.

The investment forum “Green Plateau Lam Dong sustainable green transformation: Opportunities for investors” organized by Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee with the participation of more than 250 delegates including scientists, domestic and foreign investors, businesses, tourism service investors and production and business.
