The ceremony to receive the UNESCO certificate recognizing the intangible cultural heritage "Via Ba Chua Xu Festival of Sam Mountain" as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity will take place on the evening of March 19, at the national tourist area of Sam Mountain, Sam Mountain Ward, Chau Doc City.

On March 14, in Chau Doc City, An Giang Provincial People's Committee held a press conference to inform about the organization of the ceremony to receive the UNESCO certificate inscribed the intangible cultural heritage "Via Ba Chua Xu Festival of Sam Mountain" on the list of representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity, and the opening of the Via Ba Chua Xu Festival of Sam Mountain in 2025 with the participation of about 2,000 people.

Speaking at the press conference, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy - Vice Chairwoman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee - said that the organization of the ceremony to receive the UNESCO certificate and the opening of the Via Ba Chua Xu festival on Sam mountain aims to honor, propagate and widely promote the heritage values of An Giang to more widely the people and tourists; at the same time, increase the awareness of the domestic and international community about the cultural, historical values and significance of the Via Ba Chua Xu festival on Sam mountain.

"This is an international affirmation and appreciation of heritage, promoting the diversity, value and identity of Vietnamese culture in general and An Giang province in particular. The registration will also create more resources for preserving and promoting heritage values, supporting sustainable and inclusive economic and cultural development in localities and communities," said Ms. Minh Thuy.

The festival of Lady Chua Xu of Sam Mountain in Chau Doc is a traditional festival, preserved and practiced through many generations of Chau Doc people.
