Celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Party's founding and the 95th anniversary of the establishment of Pleiku city, Gia Lai province

On the morning of September 12, the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Pleiku City, Gia Lai Province solemnly held the Ceremony to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Party Committee's Founding and the 95th Anniversary of the Establishment of Pleiku City to review the heroic tradition of the Party Committee, the army and people of all ethnic groups in the city, to demonstrate the determination to successfully carry out the tasks and solutions set forth by the 12th City Party Committee, to build the city to develop more and more, to improve the people's lives and bring them a prosperous and happy life.

Pleiku originated from the name of a Jrai village (Ploi Aku). Through the development process, on December 3, 1929, the Resident of Central Vietnam issued a Decree to establish Pleiku town. Since then, Pleiku town became the capital of the "Administrative Agency" of Pleiku. Under the domination of French colonialism, the people of all ethnic groups in Pleiku town rose up to fight against the rule, against high taxes and heavy duties; many spontaneous uprisings of the people encouraged and fueled in them hatred for the invading French.

From the 1930s to the 1940s, the first communist party members from the delta provinces came to build and develop the revolutionary movement, "sowing the seeds of revolution" on the land of Pleiku. From there, it laid the foundation for the establishment of the Red Trade Union in 1930 at Bau Can plantation (at that time under the Pleiku town) and led many struggles of the working class attracting the participation of many workers. The August Revolution in 1945 was victorious, on October 1, 1945, the first Party cell in Pleiku was born with 9 comrades.

After the Geneva Agreement (1954), the Party focused on leadership, thoroughly grasping the situation and tasks, mottos, and methods of struggle in the new period. Gia Lai province was divided into 9 zones. Zone 9 was Pleiku town, including the inner city area, plantations, plantations, and surrounding areas. On September 15, 1954, Zone 9 Party Committee (now Pleiku City Party Committee) was established and the Provincial Party Committee appointed Zone 9 Executive Committee consisting of 3 comrades. This was an important event for the Pleiku Party Committee. From then on, the people of all ethnic groups in Pleiku had a Party organization directly leading the resistance war against the imperialists and their lackeys.

The commemorative speech delivered by comrade Trinh Duy Thuan, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Pleiku City People's Council, at the ceremony affirmed: Throughout its 70-year history, whether in war or peacetime, the Pleiku City Party Committee has always promoted its comprehensive leadership role to build the locality to continuously grow in all aspects. In particular, the work of Party building and building a clean and strong political system in all aspects has always been identified by the Party Committee as a top priority.

Through 12 Congresses, the Pleiku City Party Committee has always closely followed the guiding ideology of the Provincial Party Committee, promoted the position and strength of the locality, exploited internal strength in combination with taking advantage of external resources; called for investment, gradually and effectively implemented the cause of industrialization and modernization, cared for the development of education, health, culture and society, and ensured national defense and security. Building an increasingly strong and comprehensive political system from the city to the grassroots. In particular, the 12th City Party Congress, term 2020-2025, set out 4 key programs for the entire term and in the coming time: Developing tourism into an important economic sector of the city; Converting crops to develop high-tech agriculture in a sustainable direction; Effectively attracting capital sources to continue investing, renovating the urban infrastructure system, building the city in the direction of a smart city, a "Green Plateau for Health" city. Continue to implement sustainable poverty reduction work, improve people's quality of life, especially in ethnic minority villages.

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Ho Van Nien, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council congratulated the Party Committee and people of all ethnic groups in Pleiku city on the important achievements that have been very proud of over the past 70 years. In order to build Pleiku city to be stronger and more prosperous, contributing to the whole province's successful implementation of the goal of becoming a province with comprehensive and sustainable development in the Central Highlands region, Comrade Ho Van Nien requested the Pleiku City Party Committee to perform well 5 tasks, in which the most important task is: Continue to promote the spirit of solidarity, improve the leadership capacity and fighting strength of Party organizations; strengthen the building of a clean and strong Party and political system; consolidate and arrange a streamlined political system, operate effectively and efficiently, meeting the requirements of tasks in the new situation; Regularly carry out inspection, supervision, prevention and combat of corruption and waste, maintain Party discipline; do a good job of supervision and social criticism, promote the strength of national unity and people's mastery, arouse the potential, creativity, solidarity and unanimity of the people. Prepare well the conditions to successfully organize Party congresses at all levels and the 13th City Party Congress, term 2025-2030.
