Attending the event were Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat, Director of Vallet Scholarship Fund Esperan Padonou, Professor Tran Thanh Van and Professor Le Kim Ngoc, representatives of ministries, departments and branches of Vietnam and representatives of the French Ambassador to Vietnam along with generations of students receiving Vallet scholarships.
The Vallet Scholarship Fund was founded in 1999 by Professor Odon Vallet - Doctor of Science in French Law, Professor of Religious History at Sorbonne University, France and his brother Jean-Daniel. Since its establishment, the Vallet Fund has awarded 68,000 scholarships in Vietnam, the Republic of Benin and France.
In particular, since 2001, Professor Odon Vallet has volunteered to contribute to the scholarship program through the Rencontres du Vietnam of Professor Tran Thanh Van and his wife, Ms. Le Kim Ngoc. Moved by Professor Odon Vallet's generosity, Professor Tran Thanh Van named the scholarship the Vallet Scholarship, which is awarded to young people with excellent academic performance in Africa and especially in Vietnam, including Vietnamese students in France. Over the past 25 years, more than 5,000 scholarships have been awarded to Vietnamese students.
This year, the Vallet Scholarship Fund awarded 304 scholarships to high school students and students who overcame difficulties to study well. In addition, the fund also awarded 135 scholarships to university students and 20 scholarships to graduate students from 10 universities in the South. Each scholarship for students and graduate students is 29 million VND; for students, it is 15 million VND.

Mr. Esperan Padonou, Director of the Vallet Scholarship Fund, said that due to health reasons, Professor Odon Vallet could not come to Vietnam to attend the Anniversary Ceremony. "Professor Odon Vallet said that he will maintain this scholarship for at least 100 more years and will continue to award scholarships to Vietnamese students," said Mr. Esperan Padonou.
Professor Tran Thanh Van himself and the Rencontres du Vietnam Scientific Organization always pay attention to Vietnamese students, especially students who are still in difficulty but study well.
During 25 years of accompanying students in disadvantaged areas of Vietnam, Professor Tran Thanh Van hopes that these scholarships will encourage and motivate students to have the conditions to study, reach higher, fly further on the path of education to serve the country.
