Recognizing the contributions and encouraging the business community to dare to think and dare to do, Thanh Hoa province has been making decisions to create a friendly business environment, creating opportunities for businesses to operate effectively. All are aimed at a common aspiration - the aspiration for prosperity and exemplary.
International reach
About 10 years ago, it was hard to imagine that in the very near future, “made in” goods from Thanh Hoa would be present in 68 territories around the world. Not only that, among the markets that have been successfully conquered, many “difficult” countries are extremely strict in standards and have built a series of technical and trade barriers to protect domestic goods. However, through many large international maritime transit ports, 212 enterprises in Thanh Hoa province have brought 55 types of goods to all five continents. Some high-tech products appeared for the first time in the US, Japan... which was also the first time Vietnamese products successfully conquered these markets.
Typically, millions of tons of “green” steel from VAS Nghi Son Group Joint Stock Company have met the strict international standards of the Japanese, UK, US, and Australian markets in recent times. To date, VAS steel has conquered more than 15 export markets; at the same time, it has actively contributed to the “greening” journey of key national projects such as the North-South Expressway, Hai Phong City Political - Administrative Center, Long Thanh International Airport, etc.
Mr. Trinh The Dung, Deputy General Director of VAS Nghi Son Group Joint Stock Company, said: “The Group is continuing to promote investment activities, increase capacity; at the same time, develop products of superior quality, worthy of representing the national brand, contributing to realizing the aspiration of bringing Vietnam to the world.”
After the COVID-19 pandemic, there will continue to be a series of difficulties in the investment market, production, and consumption of goods. Striving to overcome challenges, in 2024, the production and business indicators of the business community continue to affirm their strong "vitality". In the GRDP target for 9 months exceeding the plan this year, there is a significant contribution from the industrial production sector, with the production index increasing by 20.2% over the same period, contributing 7.97 percentage points to the 12.46% growth of GRDP, continuing to affirm itself as the growth driver of Thanh Hoa province.
Also in the first 9 months of this year, the total budget revenue from the business sector achieved good results with 10,063.1 billion VND, accounting for 40.7% of total domestic revenue, reaching 108.2% of the assigned estimate, up 11.7% over the same period. The whole province has newly established 2,200 enterprises, ranking 8th in the country and leading the North Central provinces in the number of newly established enterprises. Every year, the business community has contributed billions of VND to social security work; carried out many meaningful activities in the gratitude movements; encouraged learning, encouraged talents; provided relief to people affected by natural disasters and floods, which have been recognized and highly appreciated by the people - worthy of the role of the shock force on all fronts.
Chairman of the Provincial Business Association Cao Tien Doan affirmed: “With resilience and solidarity, the Thanh Hoa business community will seize new opportunities and chances, commit to making every effort, upholding the law, working with the entire political system to compete, produce and do good business, create many jobs, stabilize the lives of workers, and contribute to the socio-economic development of the province and the country”.
Putting business at the center
Resolution No. 41-NQ/TW, dated October 10, 2023 of the Politburo on building and promoting the role of the entrepreneurial community (Resolution 41) has identified that "the entrepreneurial community has an important position and role, and is one of the core forces contributing to promoting the cause of industrialization, modernization of the country and international integration".
In Thanh Hoa, Resolution No. 58-NQ/TW of the Politburo on building and developing Thanh Hoa province to 2030, with a vision to 2045 and Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress, term 2020-2025, set out development goals: “By 2025, strive to be among the leading provinces in the country - a new growth pole, together with Hanoi, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh to form a development quadrangle in the North of the country; by 2030, become an industrial province in a modern direction, with people having a higher standard of living than the national average. Vision to 2045, Thanh Hoa is a rich, civilized and modern province; a comprehensively developed and exemplary province of the whole country”.
Speaking at the workshop “Building and promoting the role of the business community in Thanh Hoa province today”, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Thi affirmed: “To realize the above goals and aspirations, the leaders of our province always clearly recognize the important role of enterprises and business communities; always identify enterprises as the center of production and business activities - the “heart” of the economy, an important factor contributing to the development and prosperity of Thanh Hoa”.
Pursuant to Resolution No. 41, the Provincial Party Standing Committee issued Plan No. 173-KH/TU, dated November 30, 2023; The Provincial People's Committee issued Plan No. 16/KH-UBND, dated January 12, 2024, setting the goal: "Developing a strong Thanh Hoa business community in terms of quantity, quality, and reasonable structure; having vision, intelligence, ethics, culture, dynamism, creativity, law-abiding, legitimate enrichment; having advanced management capacity, social responsibility, environmental protection awareness, making important contributions to promoting the province's rapid and sustainable socio-economic development, promoting industrialization, modernization, and international integration. By 2030, forming a number of large-scale enterprises in the country and Southeast Asia; A number of large enterprises play a leading role in key industries and fields of the province, mastering a number of value chains in industry and agriculture.
Towards the journey of prosperity with the above goals, along with continuing to encourage the business community to strongly promote their pioneering role, leading soldiers on the socio-economic development front, constantly studying to improve their business management skills, proactively innovating production and business models, restructuring businesses associated with development according to green economy, digital economy, circular economy, Thanh Hoa province is continuing to promote administrative reform, strengthen discipline, improve the quality of cadres and civil servants, especially the sense of responsibility and public ethics; promote service and support for business development.
In addition, along with continuing to "choose the right place to invest", attracting large-scale investors and multinational corporations to develop production and business, Thanh Hoa province is determined to effectively implement investment incentive mechanisms and policies, support businesses; provide information on planning, credit, market, tax, products, technology; support training, business start-up, human resource development... These are considered key solutions to support the "core force" to move forward steadily - creating a source of strength for the goals towards becoming a "model province" of Thanh Hoa.
