Attending the training session were Ms. Y Ngoc, Standing Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Kon Tum Provincial Human Rights Steering Committee; Mr. Trinh Khac Cuong, Deputy Director of the Provincial Police, Deputy Head of the Kon Tum Provincial Human Rights Steering Committee; Ms. Thieu Thi Huong, Head of the Protestant Department, Government Committee for Religious Affairs; Mr. Nguyen Hai Luu, Deputy Head of the Department of International Organizations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ms. Tran Chi Mai, Deputy Head of the Department of International Cooperation, Committee for Ethnic Minorities; and 220 delegates representing departments, branches and sectors of Kon Tum province.
Speaking at the Conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Y Ngoc said that the socio-economic situation and national defense and security in Kon Tum province in recent years have been basically stable, with no incidents or complicated issues creating "hot spots" or causing bad public opinion.
The implementation of social security policies, ensuring the rights of ethnic minorities, freedom of belief and religion have been focused on; the work of supporting workers, solving employment after the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, social protection, protecting children and vulnerable groups, and meritorious people has achieved many positive results.
The Head of the Kon Tum Provincial Human Rights Steering Committee emphasized that this is an important conference to foster knowledge, raise awareness and responsibility of all levels, sectors, socio-political organizations and especially leaders and cadres directly directing, advising and implementing human rights work in the province.
At the same time, the Conference also effectively serves the work of preventing, detecting, and combating activities that take advantage of, slander, and distort the human rights situation in Vietnam, especially issues related to ethnicity and religion that are always complicated in the province, thereby effectively performing the task of ensuring and promoting human rights in the new situation, especially when Vietnam is a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council for the 2023-2025 term.

At the Conference, delegates listened to the reporters convey the topics: The United Nations Human Rights Mechanism and its impacts on the human rights situation in Vietnam; The practice of fighting for human rights dialogue through bilateral and multilateral forums; The CERD Convention and the rights of ethnic minorities in Vietnam: The issue of eliminating backward customs and practices, ensuring the rights of ethnic minorities, contributing to improving the people's knowledge and material and spiritual life; Ensuring freedom of belief and religion and some experiences in fighting against the activities of Protestant groups against Vietnam.
Thereby, the reporters provided useful knowledge about the situation, plots and activities of hostile forces that consider democracy and human rights as the main target to exploit at present to distort and sabotage our Party and State by sophisticated and cunning methods and tricks with arguments spreading rapidly on cyberspace, negatively affecting the thoughts, awareness and understanding of the community.
Through the topics, human rights officers have more skills to identify and combat activities that take advantage of human rights issues in the field of ethnicity and religion to sabotage us in bilateral and multilateral forums and in Kon Tum province in association with each specific nature and characteristic; ensure the rights of ethnic minorities, freedom of belief and religion according to international conventions, the Party's viewpoints, the Constitution and laws of the State to effectively carry out human rights work...
In his closing speech, Head of the Kon Tum Provincial Human Rights Steering Committee Y Ngoc emphasized that human rights work is still the main direction that hostile reactionary forces exploit to exert pressure, promote internal "self-transformation" factors and incite opposition groups.
Therefore, departments, branches, sectors, People's Committees of districts and cities, especially member agencies of the Steering Committee, need to focus on implementing both aspects of protecting and fighting for human rights in the following areas: Raising awareness, ensuring the promotion of human rights, information and propaganda about human rights and fighting against plots and activities that take advantage of democracy and human rights issues to sabotage Vietnam.
According to Ms. Y Ngoc, human rights work is the responsibility of all levels, sectors and the entire political system. Human rights training for grassroots cadres needs to be conducted regularly to raise and unify awareness of human rights issues.
The Vice Chairman of Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee said: "Human rights work must closely combine 'building' and 'fighting', maintaining internal stability, developing the economy and society, ensuring human rights in all political, economic, social and cultural fields to create a solid foundation for the fight against the slanderous and distorted arguments of hostile forces."
