On March 31, the Kon Tum Provincial Department of Health said that its units had vaccinated about 12,500 children from 6 months to 10 years old against measles in the province, reaching over 97%.
Accordingly, recently, measles has been breaking out, in which more than 90% of cases have not been fully vaccinated. In Kon Tum, as of March 18, the whole province recorded 676 cases of rash fever suspected of measles/rubella epidemic in 10 districts and cities.
Measles is a highly contagious disease transmitted mainly through the respiratory tract, with a very high rate of infection. The main victims are children, so the work of preventing measles epidemics is very difficult, especially early detection, isolation and treatment. Currently, there is no specific treatment for measles, vaccination is an effective measure to prevent the disease.
