On May 19, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Kien Giang province Lam Minh Thanh chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee of Project 06 of Kien Giang province to develop applications of population data, identification and electronic authentication to serve national digital transformation, period 2022-2025, vision to 2030 on a number of key and urgent tasks to implement Project 06 of the Government in the province.

Kien Giang province has a total population of 2,163,039 people in the system, of which 2,115,661 are permanent residents and 47,378 are temporary residents. Citizens aged 14 and over are over 1.7 million people. In 2022, Kien Giang province will issue more than 1.5 million citizen identification cards.
Through the work of managing residence and issuing citizen identification cards, the police force has arrested 22 wanted subjects.
According to Kien Giang Provincial Police, the total number of level 1 electronic identification accounts is 29,240 accounts; level 2 is 67,848 accounts. This number only reaches about 11.4% of the target of 849,528 accounts needing identification.
Speaking at the meeting, comrade Lam Minh Thanh highly appreciated some localities and sectors that have implemented Project 06 well, but there are still some localities and sectors that have achieved low results; requested all levels, sectors, localities and units to enhance the responsibility of their leaders, have high determination, strengthen inspection and urge the implementation of the project.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Kien Giang province directed departments, branches and localities to coordinate well in implementing the project; assigned the Provincial Police to coordinate with the Department of Home Affairs to review and complete the members of the steering committee and the project support team of the province, ensuring effective operation.
The Steering Committee needs to issue a peak plan to implement Project 06; departments, branches, and localities assign responsibilities to each individual, specific tasks, and implementation time.
The Provincial Police continue to perform well as the standing agency of the steering committee, presiding over and coordinating with the Department of Information and Communications to advise on developing a plan to coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security to develop models to implement Project 06, especially the suggested models. At the same time, advise at least twice a month to inspect and urge the implementation.
