NOT AFRAID OF DIFFICULTIES
As the Captain of the Administrative Control Team of Tho Chau Border Post (Kien Giang Border Guard), Lieutenant Bui Van Dan has been assigned to train new soldiers since February 2025. Currently, Mr. Dan is the Deputy Captain of Company 3, Training and Mobility Battalion (Kien Giang Border Guard).
In August 2022, he graduated from the Army Officer School 1 and received a decision to transfer to the Border Guard Command. After that, he was transferred to the Kien Giang Border Guard Command, holding the position of Deputy Armed Captain of Hon Chong Border Guard Station.
Mr. Dan said: “Studying at the Army Officer School 1, normally after graduation, officers will be assigned to work in the military sector in their locality. Therefore, when I was assigned to the Border Guard force and went to the South to work, I was quite surprised. However, I am ready to accept any assigned task, ready to go anywhere to serve the Fatherland.”

After working at Hon Chong Border Post for a while, Mr. Dan was mobilized to strengthen training for new soldiers in 2023. After that, he was mobilized to Tho Chau Border Post from September 2023. Working in the outpost island commune of Tho Chau, with many difficult and arduous conditions, he always upholds the spirit of not being afraid of difficulties, making efforts to study and follow Uncle Ho's example to train himself to improve more and more and complete the assigned tasks well.
During the days of training new soldiers, in his position as Deputy Company Commander, Mr. Dan always closely followed the unit and did a good job of managing the troops. He was especially interested in understanding the thoughts and feelings of new soldiers to promptly resolve arising situations as a close and exemplary older brother for new soldiers to follow.
“The new soldiers are young, many of them are away from home for the first time, confused and unfamiliar with the military environment. Therefore, I always wholeheartedly guide, educate and train them to get acquainted with military discipline as well as training content, gradually mature and strive to protect their homeland and country,” said Mr. Dan.
PICK UP LOST PROPERTY AND RETURN IT TO ITS OWNERS
Since mid-February 2025, the Training and Mobility Battalion has received hundreds of new recruits. In his first days in the army, Private Luu Chi Huu was educated, trained, and developed the qualities of diligence, hard work, and not being afraid of difficulties. During his daily activities, Huu picked up a wallet and immediately reported it to his superiors to return it to the person who lost it. "I am very happy to do something useful and right, helping my comrades find lost items," Private Luu Chi Huu said.

Private Tran Van Trong, just turned 20 years old, is from Minh Luong town (Chau Thanh). Trong graduated from high school and volunteered to join the army with the desire to serve long-term in the army. While living in the unit, Trong picked up the wallet and reported to the unit to find the person who lost it and return it. Trong said: “I found the wallet in the unit canteen. I thought the person who lost the wallet was very worried, so I immediately reported to my superiors to find a way to return it.”
Deputy Political Commissar of the Training and Mobile Battalion, Tran Phu Thinh, said that the soldiers who received lost property and those who returned it were very happy. This helped the soldiers to bond, love and help each other.
“The unit commends soldiers who do good deeds and do not covet lost property to spread good deeds and kindness. The unit focuses on political and ideological education, promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style to promote the unit's tradition, building the image of a soldier with steadfast courage, moral qualities, worthy of being Uncle Ho's soldiers,” said Senior Lieutenant Tran Phu Thinh.
