Construction of nearly 12,500 billion VND project started on Cat Ba Island

On the afternoon of August 16, in Cat Ba town, Cat Hai district, Hai Phong city, Phu Quoc Civil Construction Company Limited (a member of Sun Group) held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Cat Ba Central Bay Tourism and Commercial Service Area Project. The project covers an area of ​​over 45.7 hectares, with a total investment of VND 12,495 billion. Of which, the investment in infrastructure is over VND 2,100 billion.

The project is expected to diversify tourism products, supplementary services, entertainment services, commercial centers, shopping areas, conferences, etc. to attract tourists to Cat Ba archipelago.

The project is located right next to the center of Cat Ba town, Cat Hai district, Hai Phong city, and is planned and built based on the idea of ​​turning Cat Ba into "Asia's little Maldives" with many outstanding highlights. Including the central square area, public artificial beach, walking streets...

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Le Khac Nam - Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee, admitted that although Cat Ba tourism has grown strongly in recent years, it is still seasonal and lacks high-end tourism products.

Besides, the facilities and service conditions have not met the needs of tourists with high spending ability and there are no entertainment areas to serve and attract tourists.

The Cat Ba Central Bay tourism and commercial service project is expected to contribute to overcoming the above-mentioned weaknesses and shortcomings of tourism on the "Pearl Island".

Mr. Le Khac Nam - Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee, requested the investor during the construction of the project not to negatively affect the World Natural Heritage Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Archipelago (Photo: Thai Phan).

During the project implementation, Mr. Le Khac Nam requested the investor to direct the contractors to concentrate on human and material resources, organize the construction to ensure progress. In particular, pay attention to the quality of the project, and the aesthetics in harmony with the island landscape.

Although the project is located outside the World Biosphere Reserve (core zone). In addition, it is not in the protection zone I, II of the Cat Ba Archipelago Special National Monument. At the same time, it is located outside the buffer zone of the World Natural Heritage Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Archipelago.

However, the investor and implementing units are responsible for maintaining environmental hygiene in the surrounding area, not negatively affecting the World Natural Heritage Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Archipelago.
