Mr. Wissanu made the above statement before entering today's meeting of Thailand's interim cabinet, the first meeting since the general election on May 14, according to the Bangkok Post .
On the morning of May 15, the National Election Commission (NEC) of Thailand announced that the vote counting was complete and the Move Forward Party (MFP) won the general election held the day before. Mr. Pita Limjaroenrat (43 years old), leader of the MFP, said he was building a 6-party coalition, and called the candidate representing the Pheu Thai Party, Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra, daughter of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, to congratulate and invite her to join the coalition.

Mr Wissanu stressed that a new coalition government could be formed if the people involved did not start insulting each other and could reach an agreement. "Forming a new government is now the burden of the Forward Party," Mr Wissanu said.
Mr Wissanu also said that the 250 senators also have the right to vote for the new prime minister and they have different views, but this should be negotiated.
Mr Wissanu added that the NEC will confirm the election results in two months, after which the House of Representatives will be convened, the speaker of parliament will be elected and a joint session will be scheduled to vote for the new prime minister.
If the prime minister is not chosen in the first vote, the process will be repeated. Mr Wissanu insisted there would be no political vacuum while the new government was formed, as the caretaker cabinet was handling the government's affairs. However, 13 ministers asked to be absent from today's meeting.

Outgoing Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha chaired a cabinet meeting today. When asked by reporters how he was, Prayuth replied that he was still prime minister, according to the Bangkok Post .
Details of the cabinet meeting are not yet available. However, after chairing the meeting, Mr. Prayuth remained silent about his political future after the general election. When reporters asked him if he would quit politics, he smiled and said: "No comment," according to the Bangkok Post .
