A BIG FAN BLOCK IS NOT ENOUGH
Le Tuan Khang, 22 years old, from Soc Trang, is a TikToker with 12.7 million followers. Due to difficult family circumstances, he dropped out of school in 7th grade, then followed his parents to raise ducks. There was a time when he left his hometown to go to Ho Chi Minh City to work as a factory worker, a motorbike taxi driver..., then returned to his hometown to build a TikTok channel with short clips recording the rustic life in the West. Thanks to his simple, natural way of speaking and close clip content, he won great sympathy from the audience. Last October, Le Tuan Khang caused a stir when he auditioned for the film Lat mat 8: Vong tay am by Ly Hai. In November, after receiving the award "Entertainment Content Creator of the Year" at TikTok Awards VN 2024, his name became popular with the number of subscribers increasing exponentially. In early December, director Ly Hai announced that Le Tuan Khang would officially play a supporting role in the film.

TikToker Le Tuan Khang shared honestly: "Because I have not undergone any training, when casting (auditioning), I only performed by instinct, according to the assigned character's personality. Starting out as someone who only filmed videos in the countryside, I did not dare to think that I would be assigned the role. When director Ly Hai chose me, I saw this as a great opportunity to try to show my full potential."
Before that, few people knew that in early 2023, Le Tuan Khang played a small role lasting about 15 seconds in the movie "Very Good Squad" directed by Ta Nguyen Hiep.

The fact that hot TikTokers act professionally in films has its own advantages because they have a huge number of followers, helping to spread the film more widely. Besides, they also encounter difficulties and obstacles such as "prejudice" and doubts about their abilities from the public. The case of some TikTokers failing in their first roles has made the public question their professionalism. The movie Live: Directed by director Khuong Ngoc was released in theaters at the end of September 2023 with a cast of actors, in addition to Ngoc Phuoc and Quoc Khanh, all hot TikTokers such as Ngan 98, Long Chun, Tina Thao Thi, Hoang Anh Panda, Be 7... left the theater with a revenue of only over 2 billion VND. The roles were portrayed superficially and easily... These failures have proven that, to enter the film industry, hot TikTokers only need a large number of fans.
N EFFORTS TO OVERCOME PREJUDICE
It can be said that the "phenomenon" of Le Tuan Khang or other hot TikTokers participating in the film industry is not only a turning point in their personal careers, but also reflects the strong shift of characters emerging from social networks into showbiz. Having tens of millions of followers on TikTok helps hot TikTokers with a "clean image" create a solid foundation to reach audiences and producers; and it is this attraction that helps them quickly catch the eye of directors and major film projects.

The important thing is whether these hot TikTokers can play their roles well and prove their acting ability, when most of them have not received formal training in acting. Director Ly Hai, when expanding his search for new actors on social media, emphasized: "There is nothing wrong with someone having the desire to succeed in a new field or become an artist, everyone deserves the opportunity to become an actor", and believes that "anyone who is passionate, determined and serious about the profession will have the opportunity to express themselves to become a film actor".
Recently, some hot TikTokers have been recognized for their success through their roles on screen. One example is Tin Nguyen (real name Nguyen Thi Dac Tin, born in 1997, from Phu Yen) with the role of a sour Central Vietnamese wife who often scolds her husband, but truly loves him infinitely in the movie Lat mat 7: Mot duoc uoc. Tin Nguyen's role brought about emotional scenes, giving her another opportunity to play another role in Lat mat 8: Vong tay am (released in theaters in April 2025).
Or like hot TikToker Le Bong (real name Le Xuan Anh, born in 1995 in Hanoi), gradually accepted by the audience as an actress when playing the female lead role in the movie Missed appointment with green day broadcast in prime time on VTV. Le Bong showed her seriousness when participating in acting courses, accepting comments from the audience to gradually gain experience. Thanks to her role in Missed appointment with green day, Le Bong was nominated for Impressive Actress at the VTV Awards 2024. Most recently, in the movie Khong thoi gian co-starring with Manh Truong currently airing on VTV, hot TikToker Le Bong was recognized by fans for her talent when she threw herself into the role of a teacher in trouble during a storm and flood.
Film producer Minh Ha said: "Choosing new faces from social networks is not only a marketing strategy but also a way to meet the tastes of young audiences." However, constantly striving, improving skills and being serious about the new artistic path is the way for these newcomers to overcome the prejudice of "acting TikTokers".
