(NADS) - The scene of heavy flooding right at the foot of Ba Son Bridge (Thu Duc City side), an area of luxury apartments worth millions of dollars, raises many questions about the quality of the city's infrastructure and urban planning.
Present at the foot of Ba Son Bridge on the Thu Duc City side (HCMC), reporters from Photography & Life Magazine recorded the flooding situation here. Accordingly, in just a short time after a light rain, this area turned into a temporary "river", making it difficult for people to move around. Under the reporter's lens, clearly contrasting images appeared: above were magnificent high-rise buildings, luxury apartments worth millions of dollars, but below was a scene of heavy flooding, causing serious traffic congestion.
Through discussions with some residents in the area, many expressed disappointment that despite living in a modern downtown area, they still have to face flooding after every rain. Some car owners said they had to find other places to park their cars to avoid water entering the engine. Residents living in high-end buildings around here were also surprised to witness this scene, sharing that flooding is a recurring problem, but has not been completely resolved.
Some urban experts believe that flooding in areas with large projects often comes from unsynchronized planning and drainage systems that cannot meet the volume of rainwater when the weather changes erratically. This not only affects the lives of residents but also reduces the real value of high-end real estate projects, which are expected to be symbols of modern development.
The recorded images are not only a warning about urban infrastructure problems but also reflect the current ineffective management in developing large projects, especially in downtown areas.
