On August 20, Ton Duc Thang Museum held a meeting to celebrate the 136th birthday of President Ton Duc Thang (August 20, 1888 - August 20, 2024).
Attending the meeting were Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City Tran The Thuan; Vice President and General Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations Ho Xuan Lam; Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation La Thanh Tuan.
This is an annual activity of special significance of the Ton Duc Thang Museum, to express deep gratitude to President Ton Duc Thang - a staunch communist, exemplary leader, an excellent son of his homeland An Giang, a loyal soldier of the international communist and workers' movement.
The delegation spent a minute in memory of President Ton Duc Thang - the leader of the working class, a shining example of diligence, thrift, integrity, and wholehearted devotion to serving the revolution and the people.
Speaking to review the tradition, Mr. Pham Thanh Nam, Director of Ton Duc Thang Museum, shared that President Ton Duc Thang's revolutionary life is a shining example of loyalty and devotion to the Party and the people, always upholding the heroic and indomitable spirit, maintaining revolutionary ethics: diligence, thrift, integrity, modesty and simplicity.
"Celebrating Uncle Ton's birthday is an opportunity to express deep gratitude, continue to study, cultivate and practice following the example of beloved Uncle Ton; strengthen education on ideals, patriotic and revolutionary traditions for cadres, party members, civil servants and workers, especially the young generation; foster pride and trust in the leadership of the Party and State in the cause of innovation, construction and protection of the country," Mr. Pham Thanh Nam shared.
On this occasion, towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and the 100th anniversary of Ba Son Traditional Day (August 4, 1925 - August 4, 2025), Ton Duc Thang Museum coordinated with Ba Son Corporation to organize and open the thematic exhibition "Ba Son - Timeline".
The exhibition with nearly 180 documents and artifacts outlines the formation and development process of Ba Son, the development of the shipbuilding industry, the Ba Son workers' movement in the national liberation movement, especially the role of President Ton Duc Thang in the Ba Son workers' movement in Saigon - Cho Lon in the early 20th century, along with the achievements of Ba Son after the country's reunification.
The museum also organized the reception of documents donated by individuals and organizations; awarded prizes in the online contest "Uncle Ton with the South" to 10 individuals out of a total of 6,263 individuals participating in the contest and gave gifts to workers implementing the project to build the new Ton Duc Thang Museum.
