Khe Sanh promotes development of trade, services and tourism

Khe Sanh Town Party Secretary Nguyen Dang Thai said that the town's orientation prioritizes rapid and strong development of the trade and service sector in the economic structure. In recent times, the Khe Sanh Town Party Committee and government have always paid attention to and created favorable conditions for investors, enterprises, and private economic sectors to invest in expanding production and business scale in the area, forming supermarket chains, restaurants, hotels, and services in health, education, entertainment, transportation, etc. to meet the needs of consumers, exploiting the advantages and role of the district's central town.

Currently, the whole town has 1,389 business and service establishments, with an estimated average total production value of 388 billion VND in the 2020-2025 period, accounting for 65% of the economic structure. Trade and services are both an advantage and a key economic sector promoting economic growth, creating jobs, and increasing people's income.

In recent years, tourism in Huong Hoa district has developed rapidly in terms of both the number of visitors and total revenue from tourism. With the advantage of cool climate, rich tourism resources, and "4 seasons in one day", Khe Sanh is becoming an attractive destination for tourists to visit and relax; the town is also a connecting center for forming eco-tourism tours, cultural - historical tours to revisit old battlefields, and community tourism.

The whole town has 15 hotels and motels; 72 lodging and rental businesses; 155 trucks, passenger cars, and service vehicles of 91 enterprises and limited liability companies, meeting the accommodation service needs of tourists, creating jobs for 382 local workers.

Every year, Khe Sanh town coordinates with agencies, departments, branches, and socio-political organizations of the district to organize fairs to promote agricultural products and typical OCOP products of the people in the district, build and maintain the model of "Highland Market" to serve the needs of people and tourists to shop and experience local products. In 2024, Huong Hoa district welcomed over 170,000 tourists, of which Khe Sanh town is the center and hub providing accommodation, transportation, culinary, shopping services... to serve tourists.

In the coming time, Khe Sanh town aims to increase the proportion of trade, services and tourism to 70% in the economic structure; focusing on piloting the project to develop the night economy, creating more jobs and increasing income for the people.

Accordingly, the town has synchronously implemented many solutions to encourage and facilitate businesses and business households investing in the area, expanding the scale of production and business in sectors such as passenger transport, healthcare services, private education, consumer goods services, upgrading the system of restaurant, hotel and motel services, forming 24/7 convenience stores providing modern services, well serving the needs of businesses and people. Supplementing and adjusting the planning of locations to develop the night economy such as: walking streets, night markets, parking lots, entertainment areas, resorts...

Call for investment in the formation of homestays, farmstays, apartments for rent; agricultural production models combined with experiences for tourists. Coordinate the implementation of the Tan Do Lake Resort and Khe Sanh Lake Park project. At the same time, preserve and develop traditional crafts such as weaving, brocade weaving and gong culture of the Van Kieu and Pa Ko ethnic groups to promote tourism development to become a key economic sector.

According to Mr. Nguyen Dang Thai, with the potential and strength of the district's central town located at the gateway to the East-West Economic Corridor towards Vietnam, with the Lao Bao Special Economic-Trade Zone and the proposal to the Governments of Vietnam and Laos to allow the construction of a common cross-border economic-trade zone Lao Bao - Densavanh, Khe Sanh is a favorable hub for the strong development of trade, services and tourism.

To effectively exploit the potential and strengths of the locality, the Party Executive Committee of Khe Sanh town has determined to focus on implementing the breakthrough phase of piloting the Night-time Economic Development Project, aiming to increase the proportion of trade, services, and tourism, and increase people's income. Hopefully, Khe Sanh town will soon become an attractive destination to welcome and serve well the trade, services, and tourism needs of people and visitors from near and far.
