Inauguration of 500kV line 3, Quang Trach

On the morning of August 29, in Hung Yen province, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the inauguration ceremony of the 500 kV line project, circuit 3, from Quang Trach (Quang Binh) to Pho Noi (Hung Yen).

The 500kV line 3 is a double-circuit line that goes through many different terrains, with a much larger construction volume than other projects that have been implemented. According to EVNNPT, projects of similar scale and volume take 3-4 years. For example, the 500kV line 3 Pleiku - My Phuoc - Cau Bong line project, 437km long, took nearly 3 years to construct, and the 500kV line 3 Vung Ang - Quang Trach - Doc Soi - Pleiku 2 section, 740km long, also took nearly 4 years. This project required the construction of 139,000 tons of steel, more than twice as much as line 1.

At the main bridge point - Pho Noi 500kV Transformer Station (Hung Yen), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that the completion of the project is of special importance to the energy security of the whole country. In particular, the project will contribute to increasing the confidence of foreign investors in the Government's commitments.

"The target was set to be completed in 6 months, many stages seemed impossible, with many difficulties and challenges," said the Prime Minister. However, according to him, thanks to the participation of ministries, localities, people, businesses, and banks, many items of the project were completed "at lightning speed".

This is one of the national key projects, consisting of 4 component projects, with a length of 514 km connecting Quang Trach (Quang Binh) to Pho Noi (Hung Yen) with a total investment of about 23,000 billion VND (nearly 1 billion USD). These projects all started construction in October 2023 and January 2024. Nearly 1 billion USD but was disbursed in 6 months, completing site clearance of foundation locations in 2 months, importing and transporting materials to meet large volume needs.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman Dang Sy Manh congratulated Vietnam Electricity Group - EVN for making a miracle, completing the 500kV line 3 project "at lightning speed" - a national key project with the spirit of "barefoot, steel-willed".

Mr. Manh said that with its role, responsibility and strengths such as transporting heavy, oversized, overweight cargo, liquefied gas, international transit cargo, large-volume, long-distance transportation, etc., Vietnam Railways Corporation has always been active, proactive and is honored to coordinate and support activities related to project implementation.

In particular, during the peak period, the Corporation has closely coordinated with contractors to transport nearly 1,000 containers of imported equipment and materials from abroad to Vietnam by rail. These containers are prioritized by the Corporation to be put on international freight trains, arranged to carry out customs clearance procedures as quickly as possible and delivered to construction sites in the shortest time, meeting the required project progress.

“The Corporation always wishes to contribute to the country's socio-economic development tasks, for the benefit of the nation, the people and the people” - Mr. Manh emphasized and expressed his belief that under the strong leadership of the Party, the State, the Government and the Prime Minister, the country will have many large-scale projects and important national projects, including railways, which will be completed as expected in the near future.
