Philippine Coast Guard ship docks at Tien Sa Port to visit Da Nang city - Vietnam National Shipping Lines - VIMC

With the consent of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense, on April 14, the BRP Grabiela Silang (OPV-8301) of the Philippine Coast Guard and its crew of 84 sailors, captained by Colonel Eleizer Gonzales Ibarientos, docked at Tien Sa port to begin a courtesy visit to Da Nang City from April 14 to 17.

At the same time, the Vietnam Coast Guard welcomed the delegation led by Rear Admiral Joeven L Fabul, Deputy Commander of the Philippine Coast Guard, along with representatives of the Embassy and the Office of the Philippine Defense Attaché in Vietnam, to attend the main activities within the framework of the event. This is the first time the Philippine Coast Guard has sent a ship to visit and exchange with officers and soldiers of the Vietnam Coast Guard.

Attending the official welcoming ceremony were representatives of the Head of the Coast Guard Region 2 Command, Da Nang City People's Committee, Military Region 5 Command, Da Nang City Military Command, Da Nang City Border Guard Command, Foreign Affairs Department (Ministry of National Defense), Naval Region 3 Command and a number of functional agencies of the Ministry of National Defense.

During the visit, the Deputy Commander of the Philippine Coast Guard and the ship's command team will pay courtesy calls to the leaders of the Da Nang People's Committee and the Coast Guard Region 2 Command; visit and participate in sports exchanges at the Coast Guard Region 2 Command; and conduct joint search and rescue, fire prevention and fighting exercises with the Vietnam Coast Guard ship.

The visit to Vietnam of the BRP Grabiela Silang is a practical activity to implement the Memorandum of Understanding on maritime cooperation between the Vietnam Coast Guard and the Philippine Coast Guard signed in January 2024.
