Inauguration of Hateco Hai Phong International Container Port (HHIT)

After 30 months of focusing maximum resources and speedy construction, this morning (April 5), Hateco Group officially inaugurated Hateco Hai Phong International Container Port (HHIT), finishing 2 months ahead of schedule, marking an important milestone in the development of Vietnam's marine economy.

The project of Terminal No. 5 and No. 6, Hai Phong International Gateway Port Area in Lach Huyen (Hai Phong) invested by Hateco Group, with the trading name of Hateco Hai Phong International Container Port (HHIT); is a large-scale deep-water port infrastructure development project in Vietnam. With a scale of nearly 73 hectares, of which the main terminal is 900m long and the barge terminal is 300m long, Hateco Hai Phong International Container Port is capable of simultaneously receiving the two largest container ships in the world, with a tonnage of up to 200,000 DWT (18,000 TEU), with an operating capacity of 2.2 million TEU/year, affirming its position as the largest and most modern deep-water port in the North.

The appearance of Hateco Hai Phong International Container Port with an investment capital of 450 million USD will contribute significantly to the exploitation of seaports in the direction of smart ports, green ports, safety and sustainability. With the largest yard infrastructure in Lach Huyen area, Hateco Port focuses on investing in modern equipment and technology, including 10 STS (ship-to-shore) shore cranes with a reach of 24 rows of containers, along with 36 electric e-RTG cranes, helping to lift and lower goods quickly, accurately and save energy; meeting the needs of the modern logistics industry.

At the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Nguyen Duc Tho praised the efforts of Hateco Group; Hateco Hai Phong International Container Port Company Limited to soon put the project into operation and safe operation. Hai Phong City always encourages and commits to accompany and create all conditions for investors to participate in the construction, operation and exploitation of ports in Lach Huyen port area. The city hopes to continue to receive the attention and support of the Government, ministries, departments and central branches in investing in infrastructure, especially maritime infrastructure and seaports in Lach Huyen and Nam Do Son areas in the spirit of Resolution 45 and Conclusion No. 96 of the Politburo.

At the inauguration ceremony, Hateco Group signed a memorandum of understanding with APM Terminals to establish a strategic partnership in the port and logistics sector of Vietnam (photo above).

Mr. Robert Uggla, Chairman of Maersk, the parent company of APM Terminals, affirmed: “With advanced technology, sustainable design and the ability to serve the largest vessels at sea, Hateco Hai Phong International Container Terminal will position Hai Phong and Vietnam as an important hub in global trade.

Mr. Nicolai Prytz, Ambassador of Denmark also emphasized: Hateco Hai Phong International Container Port is a strong example of cooperation and innovation in the effort to build an efficient and optimized seaport; making an important contribution to Vietnam's green transformation goals.
