Affirming the role of youth union in schools

Supporting exam season is an outstanding activity of the Dakrong High School Youth Union (Dakrong District). In each 10th grade entrance exam and high school graduation exam, the team of teachers and union members of the Dakrong High School Youth Union always have careful preparation in all aspects from establishing a team of enthusiastic and highly responsible volunteers to mobilizing resources to support such as: filtered water, milk, free breakfast, lunch, lending geography atlas and learning tools, arranging accommodation... to help candidates confidently enter the exam with high results.

Secretary of the Dakrong High School Youth Union Nguyen Phuong Nam said: “Supporting the exam season has become an annual activity that bears the mark of the Dakrong High School Youth Union, which has been recognized and highly appreciated by the Provincial Youth Union, the school board and parents. In addition, the school's Youth Union also organizes many other practical and useful activities such as: the program of supporting students to go to school, warm spring for children; awarding scholarships, gifts and supporting equipment, learning tools... for students, especially ethnic minority students, facing difficult circumstances. From there, attracting a large number of young union members to participate in many meaningful activities organized by the school's Youth Union to gain more valuable experiences, be equipped with more useful knowledge and skills, serve well their studies and live responsibly for the community".

Secretary of the Youth Union of Vinh Dinh High School (Trieu Phong District) Cap Thi Nhi said that the outstanding achievements of the Youth Union of Vinh Dinh High School are the work of educating the youth about traditions, ethics, lifestyle, revolutionary ideals, and law; providing all-round support for union cadres, class cadres, and students in difficult circumstances.

Organize well the emulation movement of good teaching, good learning, support activities, improve the quality of teaching and learning, contribute to improving the quality of education of the school. The school's Youth Union always implements well the Creative Youth movement such as: Young Informatics competition, Young Creativity, especially activities related to the application of science and technology.

As a result, participating in the 2024 Youth Informatics Competition at the district level, the unit won 1 First Prize, 1 Second Prize, 1 Third Prize; won 1 Second Prize, 1 Third Prize at the district level and 1 Third Prize at the provincial level in the Youth Creativity Competition. Effectively implementing the Youth Union Training Program associated with promoting training and improving the quality of the "18-year-old Party member" model. Thereby, developing the Youth Union work and youth movement more and more, affirming its role in schools, creating an environment for each young union member to study, practice and develop.

According to Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union Pham Xuan Khanh, the Provincial Youth Union and the Department of Education and Training pay attention to directing and guiding schools to organize well the youth union activities and movements in schools.

School Youth Unions focus on implementing many positive solutions in building strong Youth Union organizations, improving the quality of school Youth Union cadres as well as developing Youth Union members. School Youth Unions organize for Youth Union members to register to study and follow Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle, use the application "Vietnamese Youth" to study and evaluate the learning results of Youth Union members.

In response to the Week "Quang Tri School Youth Say No to Drugs" in 2024, the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee directed 34 high school youth unions and vocational education and continuing education centers to simultaneously organize response activities with many rich and diverse forms, attracting the participation of a large number of young union members. The revolutionary action movements that the school youth unions have effectively implemented have gathered and promoted the spirit of vanguard, volunteerism and creativity of young union members.

The youth volunteer movement has been regularly deployed, innovating content and methods, creating highlights and spreading power. In the 2023-2024 school year, 100% of school unions actively organized propaganda activities for young union members to raise awareness of environmental protection, natural resources, response to climate change, building new rural areas, civilized urban areas, ensuring traffic order and safety, and participating in preserving the landscape, school environment, security and order, and other social security activities.

The Provincial Youth Union successfully organized the "Quang Tri Youth Creativity" Contest in 2024; there were 525 products competing at the district level and 83 models and products participating in the provincial level; 30 typical models and products were selected that were new, creative, and applicable in practice, suitable for students' thinking and creativity to award provincial prizes and 7 excellent products were selected to participate in the "National Youth and Children Creativity" Contest. The movements "3 Good Students", "3 Practiced Students", "5 Good Students" were effectively implemented by school unions; the whole province had 345 students honored with the title "3 Good Students" at the school level; 24 students were honored with the title "5 Good Students".

The Provincial Youth Union has focused on directing grassroots youth unions to gradually innovate and improve the quality of youth union admission work, thereby admitting 5,345 members. The work of training and introducing outstanding youth union members for the Party to consider and admit to the Party has been effectively implemented; 844 outstanding youth union members have been introduced to the Party for consideration and admission, of which 212 were admitted under the model of "Party members at the age of 18".

The work of supporting and caring for the spiritual life of young union members is regularly organized by the school union with many meaningful and practical activities. Recently, school unions have mobilized nearly 2.5 billion VND to support students in difficult circumstances to strive to achieve high achievements in studying and training. This is a vivid proof of the effectiveness of union activities and youth movements, clearly affirming the mark and role of young people in schools.
