Pioneer, exemplary

Implementing the "Exemplary Veterans" Movement, the Provincial Veterans Association directed all levels of the Association to deploy specific contents to the grassroots, thereby promoting the active role of Veterans Association members. The Association at all levels has promoted propaganda and political and ideological education, promoting the spirit of solidarity; mobilizing members and people to well implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; actively participating in building and implementing socio-economic development plans in the locality. Many Veterans Association members participating in grassroots associations and unions at all levels have promoted their roles, responsibilities, capacity and intelligence, contributing to building a strong organization.

In the 2021-2026 term, the whole province has 10,129 War Veterans Association members elected to be Party Committee members at all levels, including 2,204 comrades as secretaries and deputy secretaries of Party cells; 232 comrades as secretaries and deputy secretaries of grassroots Party Committees; 2 comrades as secretaries and deputy secretaries of upper-level Party Committees; and 769 comrades as Party Committee members at all levels.

Not only actively participating in local work, the veterans are also proactive in economic development, helping each other to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty. Many members continue to promote the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", strive to overcome difficulties, directly participate in production and business in various fields, own farms, businesses, production cooperatives, bringing high income, creating jobs for many local workers, becoming typical examples of good economic performance such as the veterans: Luu Duc Vinh (Van Phu ward, Viet Tri city), Ha Kim Toi (Vo Lao commune, Thanh Ba district), Le Dinh Thanh (Tu Vu commune, Thanh Thuy district), Nguyen Tien Luc (Huong Non commune, Tam Nong district)...

Talking to us, CCB Ha Kim Toi shared: “My family's mechanical workshop produces many types of agricultural machinery such as cassava peelers, corn shellers, banana slicers, meat grinders, automatic pig feeders... Thanks to investing in modern technology in production, it has helped shorten time, increase productivity, and save human labor.”

Currently, the products produced from the mechanical workshop of CCB Ha Kim Toi's family are widely sold in the market of provinces across the country, with annual revenue reaching billions of VND, creating jobs for over 30 workers with an average income of 6-9 million VND/person/month.

Join hands to build new countryside

Identifying participation in new rural construction as one of the important tasks, contributing to changing the face of the locality, while consolidating and building a strong Association organization, every year, the War Veterans Association at all levels in the province has deployed key tasks associated with the Campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas" and the National Target Program on new rural construction.

The province has nearly 116,000 War Veterans Association members operating at 298 Association bases. Associations at all levels have stepped up propaganda, raised awareness and consciousness for cadres and members, and at the same time developed specific and suitable programs and action plans to deploy to branches.

Over the past 5 years, cadres and members of the War Veterans Association in the province have always been exemplary, mobilizing their families and relatives to donate over 200,000 square meters of land and assets on land, supporting labor, joining hands to build rural roads, build public works, and clear tens of thousands of meters of traffic safety corridors.

Regarding Zone 3, Ban Nguyen Commune, Lam Thao District, one of the typical Veterans Association branches in mobilizing households to fence off and donate land to widen the road, we learned that the road leading to the area, although previously concreted, was narrow, only about 3m wide. However, this is the main road to the communal house and school area, so every day there are many students and vehicles passing by, especially during rush hours.

After being propagandized and mobilized by the local government about the road expansion policy, all households in the area unanimously supported it, especially those living along both sides of the road who voluntarily moved their fences and donated land for the common good, many of whom are members of the Veterans Association.

Up to now, the Association of War Veterans has continued to maintain and replicate many effective models such as: Self-managed security teams, self-managed war veteran roads, safe neighborhoods, family waste incinerators... which have been recognized and highly appreciated by Party committees and authorities, and supported by local people, contributing to ensuring social security in the locality.

Accompanying members in economic development, in parallel with propaganda work, coordinating the organization of training courses to transfer science and technology, encouraging members to shift production structure, the Provincial Association of War Veterans received a trust from the Social Policy Bank of over 1,442 billion VND to support members in borrowing capital to invest in construction, expansion and development of economic models.

Thanks to good management of entrusted capital and many practical and effective support activities, the War Veterans Association at all levels in the province has helped many member households become rich, the rate of poor War Veterans Association households in the whole province is now only 2%.

The Veterans Association at the grassroots level regularly coordinates with associations and organizations to organize environmental sanitation; propagates to members and people to collect and classify household waste, plant trees, contribute to environmental protection, and create a green - clean - beautiful landscape.

Veterans Association members also actively responded to emulation movements, supported various humanitarian and charity funds, and joined hands to eliminate temporary housing for poor veterans. Associations at all levels coordinated with the Youth Union to implement programs to coordinate revolutionary tradition education for the younger generation, well organized activities of "Repaying gratitude", visiting and giving gifts to policy beneficiaries and families of people with revolutionary contributions.

Major General Le Quang Dai - Chairman of the Provincial Association of War Veterans affirmed: With many specific and practical actions, the emulation movement "Exemplary War Veterans" in the province has achieved remarkable results, encouraging the spirit of members to increasingly enthusiastically participate in movements launched by the Association. In the period of 2019-2024, 99.8% of members, 100% of grassroots associations in the whole province have completed and excellently completed their tasks, 99.6% of members' families have achieved the title of cultural family. To further improve the effectiveness of the movement, the Association of War Veterans at all levels continues to thoroughly grasp and implement resolutions and directives of higher levels; promote propaganda and launch emulation movements to all members; Encourage cadres and members to focus on developing family economy, promote the spirit of mutual love, enthusiastically share, help members of the Association of War Veterans in difficulty to rise up in life, contribute to consolidating and building a strong Association, meeting the requirements and tasks in the new situation.
