“Solidarity - Democracy - Innovation - Creativity - Development”

Attending the Congress were 1,052 delegates representing classes, strata, ethnicities, religions, armed forces, overseas Vietnamese and Front officials at all levels, demonstrating a typical image of the great national unity bloc.

Delivering the opening speech of the Congress, Comrade Do Van Chien stated: Over the past year, the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front has developed plans and provided guidance for organizing congresses at all levels. To date, congresses have been successfully organized in 10,597 commune-level units, 704 district-level units and 63 provinces and cities.

Based on the success of the Congresses of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front has carefully prepared the content and conditions to organize the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. This is an important political and social event, receiving deep attention from all walks of life at home and overseas Vietnamese.

“With the spirit of “Solidarity - Democracy - Innovation - Creativity - Development”, the Congress Presidium hopes that the delegates will promote the spirit of democracy, solidarity, consensus, focus on intelligence, uphold responsibility to the people, to the destiny of the nation... contribute many dedicated and accurate opinions reflecting the thoughts and legitimate aspirations of the people; discuss and agree on directions, goals, tasks, propose many creative, suitable and feasible ways of doing things, and strive to successfully achieve the goals set by the Congress” - Comrade Do Van Chien emphasized.

6 action programs for the 2024 - 2029 term

Presenting the Political Report to the Congress, Vice President and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thi Thu Ha reviewed the important and comprehensive results of the Front's work in the past term, in the context of the world and regional situation having many rapid, complicated and unpredictable developments, and the domestic situation still facing many difficulties and challenges, especially the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On the basis of inheriting and developing the 5 action programs of the previous term, the Congress set out 10 specific targets and added 1 new program.

The six action programs for the 2024-2029 term of the Fatherland Front at all levels focus on the following main contents: Strengthening propaganda, mobilization, gathering people of all walks of life, enhancing social consensus, promoting the strength of the great national unity bloc; improving the quality and effectiveness of social supervision and criticism, implementing democracy, and participating in Party and State building.

At the same time, mobilize all classes of people to compete, be creative, and effectively carry out campaigns and emulation movements; promote the role of mastery and self-management of the people, build a united, prosperous, and happy residential area; improve the effectiveness of people's foreign affairs activities and work with overseas Vietnamese; continue to innovate the organizational structure, content, and methods of operation; and improve the capacity of the Front's staff at all levels.

The Congress calls on our compatriots at home and abroad to promote the tradition of patriotism, uphold the spirit of self-reliance, self-strengthening, national pride and self-respect, solidarity, creativity, efforts, and efforts to overcome difficulties and challenges; take the goal of "Rich people, strong country, fair, democratic and civilized society" as a common point, creating a solid foundation to enter a new era of development, an era of national growth, and jointly build and firmly protect the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.

Speaking at the Congress, General Secretary and President To Lam affirmed: Over the past 94 years, the Vietnam Fatherland Front has continuously grown, clearly demonstrating its role and mission in promoting the tradition and strength of great national unity, encouraging, motivating and motivating our people to enthusiastically participate in patriotic emulation movements, arousing and promoting resources and creativity, contributing to the successful implementation of the country's strategic tasks in each historical period.

Acknowledging, warmly congratulating and praising the achievements of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels in the past term, the General Secretary and President emphasized: Implementing the goals, more strongly arousing the spirit of patriotism, the desire to contribute, the will of self-reliance, self-confidence, self-reliance, self-strengthening, national pride, promoting the great strength of the great national unity bloc, combining national strength with the strength of the times is the responsibility of our entire Party, people and army, in which the core is the Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organizations.

Basically agreeing with the direction, goals and Action Program for the next term that the Political Report presented at the Congress, the General Secretary and President requested the Front to play a core role, take the lead in coordinating member organizations in uniting all social classes and outstanding individuals, highly promoting the pioneering role of the working class, awakening the great potential of the peasantry, intellectuals and workers, ensuring high unity in awareness, ideology and action, steadfastly pursuing socialist goals and ideals; proactively carrying out people's foreign affairs activities; resolutely protecting and maintaining national independence and sovereignty, political and social stability, and building an increasingly prosperous and happy country.

General Secretary and President To Lam noted that the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels needs to continue to strongly innovate the content and methods of operation in a practical direction, close to the people, accompanying the people, "when the people need the Front, it is there, when the people are in difficulty, the Front is ready to participate". The methods of mobilization and gathering of the Front organization must be diverse, rich in types, lively in content, becoming a mass forum, where people of all walks of life, classes, ethnicities, religions, overseas Vietnamese... meet, exchange information, express opinions, thoughts, aspirations, and have democratic and open dialogue.
