Tonight, December 14, at the Quang Tri Provincial Cultural - Cinema Center, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST), the People's Committee of Quang Tri province chaired and coordinated with central ministries, branches and People's Committees of provinces and cities to solemnly organize the 2024 Vietnamese Ethnic Culture Festival in Quang Tri province (hereinafter referred to as the festival).

Speaking at the opening of the festival, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Head of the Festival Steering Committee Trinh Thi Thuy said that in a letter to the Southern Ethnic Minorities Congress in Pleiku in 1946, President Ho Chi Minh wrote: “The Kinh or Tho, Muong or Man, Gia Rai or E De, Xe Dang or Ba Na and other ethnic minorities, are all descendants of Vietnam, are all blood brothers. We live and die together, we are happy and miserable together, we help each other in hunger and fullness”.
Keeping in mind Uncle Ho's advice, in the history of the struggle for national liberation as well as in the cause of innovation and national construction, under the leadership of the Party, the Vietnamese people of all ethnic groups have always promoted the spirit of great solidarity, overcome all difficulties and hardships, and joined forces and hearts to build a rich and beautiful homeland and country.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Head of the Festival Steering Committee Trinh Thi Thuy emphasized: The culture of 54 Vietnamese ethnic groups was formed and crystallized in the historical process of building and defending the country. Those cultural values have created a strong vitality, the glue that connects and makes up the strength of the Vietnamese people.
In addition to common cultural values, each ethnic group has its own identity, which is born from historical traditions, natural landscapes, living environments... from which, unique cultural values are formed in language, costumes, cuisine, folk art, behavioral relationships, traditional beliefs and many other means of expression, contributing to the unity of Vietnamese culture in diversity.
Preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values of ethnic groups is both a goal and a central, long-term task identified by our Party and State in all periods, especially in the context of innovation, integration, globalization and the scientific and technological revolution that is taking place strongly as it is today.
Practically implementing the goals and tasks of developing Vietnamese culture and people in the spirit of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, in recent times, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has proactively and actively coordinated with ministries, branches and localities to implement many activities and programs to preserve and promote the cultural values of ethnic groups. The Vietnam Ethnic Culture Festival in Quang Tri province is a concrete demonstration in the implementation of the viewpoints, tasks and Resolutions set forth by the Party.

With the theme "Preserving and promoting the cultural identity of Vietnamese ethnic groups: equality, solidarity, respect, integration and development for a peaceful world" and the participation of artisans, actors, and athletes of ethnic groups, the festival took place with many activities with rich and unique content such as: Mass art festival; Performance of traditional costumes of ethnic groups; Performance and introduction of festival excerpts, cultural rituals.
Displaying, introducing and promoting local traditional culture; Displaying, processing and introducing culinary arts; Sports activities and folk games; Tourism promotion activities and many other attractive activities contribute to introducing, promoting and spreading traditional cultural values of Vietnamese ethnic groups to people across the country and international friends.
The festival not only has the meaning of a cultural event, but more importantly, it is also an opportunity for cultural subjects, artisans, actors, and mass athletes of all ethnic groups to participate in exchanges, share experiences, introduce the beauty of their own culture, and spread the pride and sense of responsibility of each person and each community in preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities in the period of national integration and development.

During the two long resistance wars of the nation, the Van Kieu and Pa Ko people always followed the Party and Uncle Ho, united to fight to defend the country, contributing to the independence and freedom of the nation. In their current life, work and production, although they still face many difficulties, the Van Kieu and Pa Ko people are always united, join hands, stand side by side, and join forces to build a new life.
The 2024 Vietnam Ethnic Culture Festival held in Quang Tri province is an opportunity to honor the traditional cultural values of ethnic groups; at the same time, deepen awareness of the important role of each ethnic group in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
Thereby, conveying to the younger generation the responsibility of preserving and promoting the nation's precious cultural values; contributing to building an advanced Vietnamese culture, imbued with national identity, meeting the requirements of sustainable national development in the integration period.
This is also an opportunity for Quang Tri province to promote and introduce cultural tourism products of the land and people of Quang Tri to domestic and foreign friends and tourists, linking the work of preserving, conserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage with sustainable tourism development.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam welcomed the presence of leaders, delegates, distinguished guests, artisans, actors, and athletes representing the provinces: Son La, Lang Son, Bac Giang, Vinh Phuc, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Quang Binh, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Lam Dong, Gia Lai, and Quang Tri who gathered here to attend this special festival.
Hopefully, the rich and attractive cultural, sports and tourism activities that the artisans, actors and athletes bring to the festival will be the fresh flowers contributing to brightening the cultural identity of the ethnic groups in the cultural and artistic garden of the country; with the spirit of solidarity, confidence, and steady steps into the era of the country's rise.

The art program aims to honor the traditional cultural values of the Vietnamese ethnic communities across the country; where people have actively contributed their intelligence and time in the work of preserving and promoting the cultural identity of ethnic groups in a unified and diverse Vietnamese culture.
Each ethnic group and each region has its own unique cultural features, contributing to the creation of a colorful, rich and unique cultural picture of the nation. The ethnic groups gathered in the beloved land of Quang Tri, the land that has suffered many painful losses, to hold a festival together to affirm the position and contributions of the ethnic minority communities that have stood side by side in the community of 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam; protecting, preserving, fighting steadfastly and joining hands to build the land left by their ancestors.
Through comprehensive art performances, the program introduces and promotes traditional cultural values and great historical relics of the Vietnamese people in general and Quang Tri province in particular to domestic and international friends.
