Nearly 200 athletes from 12 volleyball teams from agencies and units of the General Staff participated. The teams were divided into 4 groups, competing in a round-robin format to select the top two teams from each group to advance to the quarter-finals. The final match of the tournament took place on the morning of August 25.

In his opening speech, Colonel Bui Tuan Quynh, Deputy Chief of Political Department of the General Staff, Head of the Organizing Committee of the tournament, said that volleyball is a sport that has been popularized and strongly developed nationwide, suitable for many ages, especially women. In the Army, many agencies and units have paid attention to developing volleyball and it is loved by women. The tournament was organized to promote the development of the volleyball movement, contributing to creating a useful playground to improve the physical and spiritual life of women of the General Staff, while creating conditions for women in the entire agency to exchange, study and develop comprehensively, contributing to the successful completion of assigned tasks.

For the tournament to be a success, becoming a sports festival for women of the General Staff, Colonel Bui Tuan Quynh suggested that the referee team needs to work impartially and responsibly; the athletes need to compete with enthusiasm, excitement and fair-play to spread the sportsmanship and solidarity spirit of each agency.

Excited to attend the tournament, Professional Military Major Tran Thi Thuy, President of the Women's Union of the Militia and Self-Defense Department, promised to compete with all her might to achieve high results and bring dedicated, attractive and exciting matches.
