According to the plan of the People's Committee of Ninh Giang district (Hai Duong province) on organizing the Tranh Temple Spring Festival in Giap Thin year 2024 and announcing the Decision of the People's Committee of Hai Duong province to recognize the National Architectural and Artistic Relic of Tranh Temple, Dong Tam commune as a tourist destination, this year's event will be held for 3 days, March 19 and March 23-24 (ie February 10 and February 14-15 of the lunar calendar).
Tranh Temple Festival is recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2022.
On March 18 (February 9 of the lunar calendar), there will be a presentation ceremony before the water procession; a temple opening ceremony; an exhibition of OCOP products and typical products of communes and towns in the district; and a welcome cultural night program.
March 19 (February 10 of the lunar calendar), from 6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., there will be ceremonies and activities such as the water procession; art performances and lion and dragon dances; opening speech; drum beating; announcement and presentation of the Decision of the Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee recognizing the National Architectural and Artistic Relic of Tranh Temple, Dong Tam Commune, Ninh Giang District as a Tourist Destination; reading of congratulatory messages; incense offering ceremony. From 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., there will be Quan and Mau worship ceremonies; bathing ceremony.
On March 23 - 24 (February 14 - 15 of the lunar calendar), there will be games such as smashing clay pots, catching loach in jars, blindfolded goat catching, traditional wrestling, crossing bridges on land, table tennis, men's and women's volleyball, clay firecrackers, tug of war, chess, water puppetry; and thanksgiving ceremony.
The procession of the Mandarin Tuan Tranh
The highlight of the festival is the program to celebrate the birthday of the great Quan Tuan Tranh Ninh Giang Hai Duong with a welcoming art night taking place at 8:00 p.m. on March 18, performed by famous artists and artisans such as Meritorious Artist Dang Ngoc Anh, People's Artist Thanh Hoai, People's Artist Trong Binh; artists such as Hung Min, Nam Giang and artists of Hai Duong Cheo Theater.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Van, Vice Chairman of Ninh Giang District People's Committee, said that the event was organized to preserve and promote the value of historical and cultural relics, the fine traditions of Tranh Temple Festival - a national intangible cultural heritage; demonstrate the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source", honor the merits of ancestors and characters worshiped at the relic.
Through these activities, we contribute to propagating and promoting the typical cultural values, tourist attractions, and fine traditions of the Tranh Temple Festival; educating the tradition and sense of responsibility of officials and people in implementing, preserving and promoting the cultural values of the nation. At the same time, we meet the spiritual and cultural needs of the people and visitors from all over the world.
Tranh Temple is located in Tranh Xuyen village, Dong Tam commune, Ninh Giang district, Hai Duong province with a total area of 29,417m2.
Tranh Temple worships Quan De Ngu Tuan Tranh, the 5th of the Five Gods of the Vietnamese folk religion.
The Organizing Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to individuals and groups who actively contributed to the festival.
Currently, Tranh Temple relic is located on a spacious campus with 34 large and small compartments, including 7 front compartments, 7 middle compartments, 7 connecting compartments, 3 ancient compartments, 3 rear compartments, 7 eastern compartments and many other auxiliary works such as the eastern compartment with 7 angled knife compartments, made of ironwood, roofed with pointed tiles; the ceremonial gate is built in the style of "co-ordinated ancient door", including 2 side doors and one main door, large in scale like the ancient ceremonial gate; stele house, memorial altar...
Mr. Vu Dinh Tien, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Duong province, said that Tranh Temple in Dong Tam commune, Ninh Giang district was ranked as a national architectural and artistic relic by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism under Decision No. 1214/QD-BVHTTDL, dated March 25, 2009. The traditional festival of Tranh Temple was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism under Decision No. 781/QD-BVHTTDL dated April 4, 2022.

This is a valuable human resource, playing an important role in the spiritual and cultural life not only of the local community but also of the Vietnamese people, which further affirms the determination of the potential and strengths of the relic in contributing to the tourism development of Ninh Giang district in particular and Hai Duong province in general.
