Trump may choose a woman as his running mate
Mr. Trump said he has not yet thought carefully about who he will choose as his running mate if he becomes the Republican candidate for the 2024 US presidential election.
However, he likes the "concept" of having a female running mate, according to an interview broadcast on NBC News on September 17.
“Are you biased toward female candidates?” moderator Kristen Welker asked.
"I like the concept, but we'll pick the best," Trump said. However, former President Trump said he didn't want to think too much about the possibility of choosing a running mate at this time.
"I don't think it's the right time. I want to win," he told moderator Welker.
South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem recently appeared on stage and endorsed Mr. Trump for president at a rally in the state earlier this month, sparking speculation that she could be a leading candidate to be Mr. Trump’s running mate.
Mr. Trump himself also confirmed that the female governor is a candidate he can consider, praising her as a "great" politician.
In addition, the former US leader said that he opposed the idea of an age limit for presidential campaigns, but he supported conducting competency tests for candidates participating in the race for the White House.
Mr. Trump also confirmed that he left a message for Mr. Joe Biden when he left the White House in January 2021, following the tradition of presidents leaving after the end of their term.
"I left him a note. I thought it was a very nice note. I thought a lot about it before I wrote it. I want him to do a great job (as president), even though it's really bad politically," Mr. Trump said in response to a question about the content of the note.
