A US warship launched a missile from an undisclosed location in the CENTCOM area of control on March 15.

Reuters on March 17 quoted information from the Houthis claiming that this force launched a series of ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) at the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman and other US warships in the Red Sea. This was a military action in response to US attacks on Houthi positions in Yemen on March 15 (local time).

An unnamed U.S. official said U.S. warships shot down 11 drones on March 16. None of the drones came close to the USS Harry S. Truman. U.S. forces also tracked a missile that landed in waters off Yemen and posed no threat to the United States.

Houthi leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi said on March 16 that the force will continue to attack US ships in the Red Sea as long as the US continues its military campaign against the Houthis in Yemen.

Speaking on Fox News the same day, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth affirmed that the Pentagon will continue to attack the Houthis in Yemen until the enemy stops attacking maritime activities in the region.

Houthi-controlled health authorities recorded at least 53 people killed in US airstrikes on March 15.

The New York Times reported that the US Air Force and Navy have coordinated attacks on dozens of Houthi targets in Yemen, officially launching the largest US military campaign in the Middle East since President Donald Trump took office.

In the latest developments, Al Masirah TV reported in the early morning of March 17 that the US had launched two airstrikes on Hodeidah. This is Yemen's fourth largest city and has a port on the Red Sea.
